Women & Sexual Dysfunction

Posted 4 months ago We have had technology and medication for men who experience various levels and forms of sexual dysfunction for over a decade, if not longer. Can't turn on the TV without seeing a comercial for one of many "little blue pills". Sexual dysfunction has an extrodinarily high incidence in women- but there is very little research or treatment related to the female side of the issue. Here is an article outlining this inequity, and offering some movement towards possible soluntions: http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/conditions/07/24/ep.women.sexual.dysfunction/index.html What do you think? | Posted 4 months ago Very Interesting subject. Our local paper (Chicago Sun-Times) published an article yesterday regarding women and viagra. It says that it'll help with the orgasm, but not with the arousal or desire - especially if they are on anti-depressants. Ms. Antoinette M. | Posted 4 months ago The medical community has not studied enough about the role of the psyche in women's sexual arousal. Researchers are not dedicated to long-term studies of female dysfunction. This surprises me because as women we realize that early traumatic events such as rape, abuse or child molestation play a large part in how women view sexual satisfaction. When estrogen production wanes or stops due to age or surgery, some women have a rapid decline in sexual desire or libido. Replacement estrogen has scary side effects like increases in cancer, stroke or blood clots. Doctors are quick to send more females to therapy instead of looking at a physical root for sexual dysfunction. Scientists know that the reasons for sexual dysfunction in men do not apply to women. Still, more money is spent on understanding the issues of dysfunction in males than females. Until there is parity in research, women are left to explore solutions on their own. Reviving sexual desire is not as simple as a glass of fine wine, a red rose, and romantic music.

| Posted 4 months ago A possibly inappropriate comment, advanced appologies, and this is said with sarcasm: if we keep increasing men's libidos without doing anything for their female counterparts- who will heterosexual men be having sex with? or will medical research then turn in droves to carple tunnel? | Posted 2 months ago If it weren't for some man made objects, I'm sure many women would be struggling with the same situation as the woman in the article. I believe that there should be more advanced studies, and until the carple tunnel takes over, they won't! |

| Posted 2 months ago Women think with their brain, men think with the "brain" between their legs. We are stimulated by words of endearment, a hand around the home, (no pun intended) with the kids, etc. That, in my opinion, makes you feel more romantic towards a man, rather than "taking" care of his needs without his concern for yours. | Posted 2 months ago All joking aside. Men are easy to study...the are "out there for the world to see". They wear there intension out in the open. Women are more of a mystery because our sexual parts are hidden.(whether genital or brain). They first need to understand women's sexual function before they can try to figure out our dysfunction. |
