I do have business cards, and I try to keep several in my wallet just in case. I think that I need to invest in better ones though.

I try to always keep my cards on me- never know when a networking opportunities with knock!

I actually have several business card holders that I distribute to each of my "main" handbags (so I do not have to worry about transfering every time I switch between my black or brown purse)- then a few cards in my wallet just in case!

For my jod is is not essential for me to have business cards.

However, I find it rather upsetting for someone to be selling me an idea or a product and when I asked for a card , I am told that they have ran-out of cards. This reflects a disorganized person, and a poor attitude towards the job.

I don't have any 'business' cards, but I need to get some for networking purposes. I was going to order some a few months ago, but I figured I wouldn't run out before the relocation, and that it would be a waste of money. But as soon as the relocation is complete, I'm going to get some made.  Like Kar said, never know when a networking opportunity will knock.

I always, always have cards on me. I even stash some in each of my handbags so that if I switch it up I always have some already in the bag. I keep them in the car, at work and at home. There is nothing worse than being out of cards when someone is interested in your business or is a potential client. And let's face it, it's not a big deal to carry them. As hard as business is to come by, especially during these times, it would be self defeating.

I agree with El. If I asked someone for a card and they ran out or forgot them somewhere else the impression would not be a very good one.

It's always good to keep cards with you.  Like some people have said, you never know who you're going to meet!

I know www.vistaprint.com has free business cards.  You might have to pay for shipping though.

Even though I am currently a SAHM, I have purchased some cards. When my kids start school, I do want to go back to work. Thus, as everyone has said, it is best to be prepared to make a great impression...You never know where it may lead.

I do have business cards and if I'm out of the house, I have some with me.

I agree with Elloraine and that it is frustrating when someone talks about their business and then they don't have a card.

As I'm self-employed, I give out my card frequently, including any time someone reaches for a pen to take down my number or email address.  It's convenient and let's them know (or reminds them) what I do.  www.vistaprint.com often sends me offers for 250 free cards (there is a charge for handling and shipping) and there's a variety of designs, so I also have "business" cards for one of my volunteer endeavors.

I have learned the hard way to always have them with me...people kept asking, and I looked so unorganized without them!!  Now they go with me everywhere!!

My business cards are with me at all times.  Like others have posted, you never know when networking opportunity will knock.  I keep some in my car, some in my more used purses and definitely some in my wallet.

They are great for free lunches too.

And they come in handy when you need something to write on!  Grocery lists, etc.

Yes and yes.  As has been repeated here, you just never know when or whom you might meet.

Please check the link on the home page on the secondary navigation bar (on the left-hand side of the page), under "Need a Business Card?"

I got some really beautiful business cards from vistaprint, and I carry some in my bag everywhere I go.  I've already given them to some people that I have worked with on different projects, to friends, and have even exchanged them, which is part of networking.  Vistaprint offers Americans a matching website, and I think it's awesome to have a website that matches your business cards.  Vistaprint can't figure out how to offer that service to their European customers yet, so I don't have one.  But if you can get a site, that's good to have.  You can choose a domain, and it can match your email address, which is handy.

I do not have business cards yet! I need some. Any suggestions for companies to print them, especially if I design them myself?

I don't know about printing cards with your own design, but Vistaprint often offers 250 business cards for free (pay handling and shipping only), which is a good solution until you get your designed cards ready.  Vistaprint has a number of designs available for their free cards.

I'll look into them, thanks!

I was thinking about designing my own and taking them to a print shop, too, but I've been stuck trying to figure out my new software.

I am never without them.  Also, it is good to have a current picture of yourself on your card.  This will help people remember when they are cleaning out their business card holder.

Ooo. I've never seen that done before. It would be unique in this area, as well as useful. Thanks again! You guys are so helpful!

I've used Vistaprint very successfully with my own design. They have templates that help you figure out the exact print area and what may be cut off during processing. There is a small charge - around $5 to upload your own design. I used photoshop elements and they accepted the PSD file that photoshop creates.

wow, thanks for the heads up!  I get mine free from vistaprint, just have to pay the postage.  But I'd rather support womenco if I can, so I'll check it out!

After I went through the procedure of all the design and everything, I found the the cost of printing and shipping is about $40. It depends on what exactly you do to your cards. Most things are free. A pack of 250 are free. The designs are absolutely gorgeous! I can't wait to have the $40 so I can buy some.

I use  vista print too!  It's cheap and the cards look really nice....you also get really good deals, if anyone wants some of the same deals that I get let me know and I can send you a link or code and you will get the same special....just let me know.

Being in a MLM we are continually trained/mentored on giving out our business cards.  Since starting my nutrition club (cold fusion) I give out 20-25 cards every day and on the days I don't work the club I make sure to challenge myself by handing out 10 business cards when I'm out and about....like paying for gas I always give a business card.  One of my best distributors came from a server I met while my husband and I were waiting for a table for supper we sat in the bar and had a drink.  I told the server "hey I love your energy"  "you would be great on my team" I left a card and she called a few days later.  Now she's in the process of opening her own nutrition club.

It is from VistaPrint. I clicked on the link on the left through WomenCo and got all this information after designing my cards with all free stuff, then not accepting anything else. So, it was the base cost of shipping as well as "printing" fees that they said on the site.

ok, thanks.  I like the ones that I have from vistaprint, and had hoped to get the awesome matching website, but they don't know how to use our banking system.

I had seen that and wondered about it. I'm also wondering if I can have one custom made so it won't be on the list of designs that others can pick from. I wanted to be original.

I had a friend of mine who is a photographer take pictures of my kids and design my business cards..front and back and a post card I use to send clients notes or reminders.  I have posted them all on my site.  She photo shopped both kids...everyone thinks they are clip art.  Anyhow I paid my friend $60 for a design fee and she made them into business cards for me that I uploaded onto Vistaprint.
