Tech question about Flash Player

If any tech women have an answer to this dilemma, I would appreciate a solution. I am totally stymied about the installation of the Macromedia Flash Player. After installing the player, it does not work.

It worked before; however, it is sitting in the background now. Therefore, I reinstalled the player, but it still does not play. The message says the installation is complete.

Could Norton Anti Virus be the problem? I have an Acer laptop, and I do have space left for the player.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Donna,

Have you made any changes to your laptop recently?Any new software installed recently?

Also could you also post any error message it prompts when you try to play it?

Thanks, Rasika.

No changes. No error messages, but the window to do the install pops up each time I need to view a video, etc.

From what you tell me,I feel your computer is not able to recognize that the software (flash player)already exists in you computer, that's why it prompts you to install it each time you try to play it.

So I guess you can try the following...

Check if the software is listed in the Programs list. You can check through Start--->All Programs

OR You can check by going through Control Panel--->Add or Remove Programs.

On clicking 'Add or Remove Programs' a list of all softwares will appear. So you can check if the software is listed in that or not.

Then try uninstalling it first and then installing it again. After installation, restart your computer for changes to take effect.

Also are you installing from a CD or website?Sometimes the source file that you use to install could get corrupt.

You can download it from http://www.download.com/3120-20_4.html?qt=download+Macromedia+Flash+player&tag=srch&tg=dl-20

and install again.

The above is a trusted site so wont harm your computer in any way.

Hope this helps.Keep me posted on what happens.
