| Posted 4 months ago My first 'published' poem (in the elementary school newspaper) was when I was in 3rd grade... The only 2 lines I remember were: I write about the morning sun, In the morning when night is done. :) I do believe that I couldn't do much better more than 3 decades later!!!!

| Posted 4 months ago © Alyssa J Kenley (Maiden Name) FINAL In the darkness of my mind a candle sits alone. Searching, searching, cannot find that final stepping stone. To be determined by a glance, with nothing more than fate. Pointlessly given one last chance when death's entreaties wait. Blind and deaf to all. This is one of my first ones. My mom has the rest at her house. She keeps publishing them, though I wish she wouldn't because I don't think they're anywhere near good enough. |

| Posted 4 months ago Alyssa, that's really good! I can't blame your mom for publishing your work. I bet you have more great poetry like this. It's not just cause she's your mom that she publishes your work...it's because she sees a REAL talent there! Keep writing! "Your absence has gone through me, Like thread through a needle. Everything I do is stitched with its color." ~William S. Merwin

| Posted 4 months ago I've been writing poetry for years and years. I've actually written and copyrighted several books of poems, but have never published. I did let people read them, and they did like them. I really should get back into it, and this may be a great place to start! |

A VISION FOR EACH OF YOU
by: Laura A Warner
If I could wish one wish for you,
It would be a big one from my heart, A vision so strong and safe and right, Of how much I believe in each of you, Learn from your mistakes and challenges, Be kind and help each other. Always do what you feel is right in your heart, Using common sense. And you will see that the vision, that I have for each of you, Will be one of pure and true happiness. Filled with love and good wishes, From me to each of you. Copyright ©2008 Laura A Warner

| Posted 3 months ago I don't remember my first poem but oddly enough I remember the first one I sent someone. I don't know who published it but when I hear it, it reminds me of childhood and how innocent we are when it comes to love at a young age. I probably sent it in 6th or 7th grade to my first crush... Always together, never apart Wishing always in our hearts, That your love and mine, Will withstand the test of time It's not who you are that holds you back. It's who you think you're not. - Unknown |

| Posted 3 months ago The first poem that I have written was about a year ago. I nervously posted it in the news and columns to see if there would be feedback. It is called Fly, Fly Away. I have written over 80 poems at this point and they are very free style. They are the writings of a buried person who is struggling to deal with the awakening of her life. Sounds very heavy but it is just the inner speaking of my heart. Candy |

| Posted 3 months ago The first poem that I ever wrote was about two years ago. Just about everyone in my immediate family had a talent for writing, and I always thought that I just didn't have that creative part in me. But then, I went through a very trying time in my life, and one day when I was full of anger and despair, my first poem, "If I Could Take the Pain Away", just came flowing out. After that first one, everything else just came tumbling out, and I have since written over 20 poems. I haven't had much time to write recently, but I try to take note when inspiration hits. One day when I get more time I would like to publish my works... |

| Posted 3 months ago I don't remember my first poem. One short story that always makes me smile is one I wrote in middle school. That was the day, I know I could paint with words. |

| Posted 3 months ago I starting writing when I was very young - I wrote poetry to express myself -- wonderful outlet -- painting pictures with words. I lost quite a bit of my early stuff but here's one I can share: Trust I surrender to the day all my hopes and dreams of love. All my fears. I stand alone with my heart in hand and proclaim my trust in you -- in me -- in Life. I embrace the moment and actively seek comfort from my faith and my willingness to Be. |

| Posted 2 months ago The seasons of my life; come and go without a trace It seems like everywhere I go; It feels just like a race I want to take some time Alone, to just unwind To feel the breeze the wind and the rain To feel the love, the joy and the pain I want to remember the many little things That being in this world eventually brings The laughter and tears All my hopes and fears Are drowned in the race I come and go without a trace.
I just wrote this, I couldnt find my book. I know this was supposed to be my first poem, but I cant find it and I love poetry..hope ya'll dont mind

| Posted about 1 month ago oh my gosh it was in the fifth grade when the teacher went over all the different type of poems and made us make a book of poems one of each kind. The only one I can remember was Fall Leaves falling to the ground turning orange and crispy Apples falling all around turning brown and squishy! All power is from within and therefore under you controll.
