Posted 11 months ago I'm a born and raised Berkeley Girl? Anyone else? Whats your FAVORITE east bay spot? Mine are: The Parkway Speakeasy, Cafe Intermezzo, and Zachary's Pizza! |

| Posted 11 months ago I've been in Oakland for 11 years now. I also LOVE the Parkway. I have 2 young kids, so my favorite spots are a little different, although I also love Zachary's. My fave place to take the kids out to eat is Compadres on Park Blvd in Oakland (kid-friendly) |

| Posted 11 months ago I'm a California girl living in Dallas/DFW Texas. I was raised in Oakland and miss California tremendously! I lived in Oregon for 13 years and now here in Texas for the last 5 years. There is no place like California! I would love to move back after I land a job. There's no place like home!!! |

| Posted 11 months ago I've only been living in the bay area for a few months, but I definitely have a few favorites already. The Albatross in Berkeley is one of my top bars, and I enjoy I actually enjoy Richmond and Temescal a lot. As far as San Francisco goes, the Hemlock is my favorite bar. Anybody else know this one? |

| Posted 11 months ago I moved to Berkeley in late October and delved straight into grad school so I don't have any favorites yet. This thread is a helpful reference! When I return from winter break I'll definitely have to make more time for exploration! |

| Posted 10 months ago I'm an Oakland gal. If you want to go to a fancy restaurant and don't have the inclination to fight for a reservation at Chez Panisse try Baywolf's on Piedmont Ave. I love the Italian combo at Genova's on Telegraph. Gordo's on College Ave. and Solano Ave has great burritos. For a fabulous view check out the Paragon at the Claremont Hotel -- during the summer it is a great place to sit outside, have a cocktail, and enjoy the view. |

| Posted 10 months ago I'd really like to learn some of the Oakland hotspots. The city seems so inaccessible from the BART stops. What are the coolest areas for me to check out, Hilary? |

| Posted 9 months ago I'm a big Yoshi's fan, great sushi and if you want to see a concert on occasion, grown up style. Also, getting off at 12th street BART, there is some great shopping! Ann M. Evanston, MA CEO Zena Enterprises

| Posted about 1 month ago I am a bay area girl, but currently live in San Diego. I tell you there is no place that can replace the bay area. I grew up mostly in Oakland and loved it! I have visited over the past 7 years and some of it hasn't changed much. I do miss it sometimes :( I will be moving to LA with my husband in a few weeks hopefully. I think that'll be close to home (Oakland). :) I can't wait! I just wanted to stop in and be apart of the bay areas posting!!!! |

Have you been to the new Yoshi's in SF? Susan Friedman Landscape Architect

| Posted about 1 month ago no is it good? It's so easy to get to Oakland though. We won some rooms at a fundraiser in SF - so maybe we should check it out and make a night of it in the city! Ann M. Evanston, MA CEO Zena Enterprises

| Posted about 1 month ago I grew up in the Rockridge area in Oakland and have witnessed the transformation of College Ave. From upsale restuarants such as Garibaldi's to McNally's Irish Pub, College Ave. is a mecca of great eats, drinks and shopping. Anne Keefe

| Posted about 1 month ago I grew up in Canada but graduated high school in Concord. My husband grew up in Oakland. We now live in Pleasanton. My favorite place is downtown Pleasanton on the weekends. Everyone is out, walking around looking at the shops. There are friendly faces everywhere. It reminds me of the small town I grew up in. Being from up north, I got my husband hooked on hockey. We both root for the San Jose Sharks. I'm up for a meetup! June Sockol

| Posted about 1 month ago Hi Anne, I actually rarely drink and I don't usually drink wine. My husband would like to stop by there. We have had dinner at Stacey's and that was really good. I love the fact that people are very friendly and everyone brings their dogs. One day when our dogs are better behaved we'll bring them down there. June Sockol

| Posted 26 days ago The Wine Steward also has great pasta and fresh bread too. Have you eaten at Girasole? We just ate there the other evening and was duly impressed with their menu and with what we ordered. I still like the ambiance of main street though. Anne Keefe

| Posted 14 days ago I have to say I love all the open land in the east bay from the bay walks to the redwoods and the open fields. I also have a special fondness for Cafe's all over the east bay. And as I lived in SF for many years I have a special love for the warmer weather. Gail Gail Chadbourne
