sometimes the medical billing/coding school that you go to offers placement. At least that was the experience at the school I attended. Check with the school you are attending to see if they provide placement.

What school are you going with? I did mine online and it has only taken me six months to finish. That's billing AND coding. I've just started actively searching for a job, and it's not as easy as the advertisements say, that's for sure! Be sure to check with your local hospitals and doctor's offices, they may be looking for a billing specialist or coder.

Starting your own billing business takes quite a bit of money, because you have to buy the software and get your business set up. I did find a pretty good website, if you want to hook up with a big company. www.synergymis.com/nowisthetime.asp They seem to be a pretty good company. You can download a sample of their software for free and familiarize yourself with it. You can also request information and someone will call you within a day or two, and in the time frame that you specified, not at nine at night when you're trying to get your kids in bed (I've had that happen!!).

Anyway, best of luck to you!! Keep us updated!
