Posted 3 months ago When you were Little, what did you want to be when you grew up? Did you ever become that? Are you still working on it? ~Most of the shadows of this life are caused by our standing in our own sunshine.* |

| Posted 3 months ago I wanted to be a teacher. Although I am always teaching someone in my job - I don't teach in a school. It is more a statement of mind! I'm pretty straight forward and try to just help people come to the right answer. My girls always told me that if they had a problem, they went to dad for the hug and sympathy - they came to me for the "tough love", the way to solve their problem. At first that kind of hurt my feelings but now I know that I am good at it and can really help people. I love my girls more than life itself! |

| Posted 3 months ago I wanted to be a teacher and I did that. Teaching is still part of my current job. I wanted to be a nurse and that's what I am, and I love it. I thought it would be awesome to be an actress/singer/dancer-- maybe star on Broadway. No chance of that! | Posted 3 months ago In middle school I thought I wanted to be a criminal attorney and as I got older and started to deal with my issues I knew I wanted to be a child psychotherapist. Neither happend for me but I am looking into opening a therapeutic community with my fiance'. So, when that happens I guess I will have accomplished the latter to some degree. | Posted 3 months ago when I was a girl, I always wanted the same things....everything! I wanted to be a singer, a writer, a photographer and a journalist. I had visions of myself travelling the world and having a blast doing it. When I was older, I got famous for a little bit from a huge story done on me in a newspaper. Having a taste of what it would be like to be famous put the idea of being a singer out of my head permanently. But, I'm happy to say, that I'm working on the rest of it. |

| Posted 3 months ago I wanted to be a famous pianist. However, when I got to my teens, I learned that there are really LOTS of incredibly talented pianists, and very few of them are lucky enough to make a living out of it. Oh well - I still play anyway - just not for a living! Phyllis R. Neill, www.shementor.com Phyllis R. Neill, www.shementor.com |

| Posted 3 months ago I literally wanted to be a ballerina. My name is Angelina and I would watch the show Angelina Ballerina all the time. I have seen the nutcraker numerous times. They are so beautiful and graceful. However, we never had the money for me to learn and as I got older I found you really had to start young to be any good. You have to have great posture and I have mild scoliosis so I gave up on my dream when I was in middle school. |

Oh, I feel for you. I have scoliosis and crooked everything from the top down, so I know what you mean. I used to love to dance, but it hurts too much now, so I rarely do it. Do you know what I found, though? I can do the most beautiful dances in my mind, with my eyes closed, listening to the music! I'm I the only one who does that??? |

| Posted 3 months ago I wanted to be a veterinarian. My experience with vets was with Small Animal Vets and that's what I meant--you know, dogs, cats, mice...Well, my Dad was from the English countryside. His idea of veterinarians was doctoring horses, sheep and cows. He said to me emphatically, (Apply thick English accent here) "Maddie, you don't want to be a vet! You'll have to help COWS give BIRTH!" As if that was the most horrible thing in the world! His passion about what a bad idea that was convinced me that I must not want to be a vet! He told me to get into "Computers!" (emphatic tone and thick English accent) "That's the thing to know!" He was probably right about computers but I didn't do that. I still wish I had a job that entailed working with animals but I don't think that becoming a vet was really do-able for me. But I am trying to keep an open mind on things that my sons says he'd like to do someday. Explore with him the possibilities. Find out what attracts him to a certain profession to see if there are other careers which provide that element. Help him find out what education is involved. I don't want to dismiss an idea out of hand, like my dad did with me. I know he meant well though.... Great Topic, Red!

| Posted 2 months ago I wanted to be a doctor, namely a pediatric surgeon. Destiny, however, took me in another direction. I'm still working toward being a doctor--Ph.D. instead of M.D. Between then and now, however, I've taught school and managed a hair salon. Thankfully, come 2009, I'll be working on graduate studies in Rehabilitation Counseling with a concentration in career appraisal and assessment. | Posted 2 months ago When I was a little girl, the first thing that I can remember that I wanted to be is a dancer. A gogo dancer, or those girls with the long legs that do all those high kicks, and they go on tour every christmas season. My mother bought me some white boots with a tassel hanging from the zipper once, and when ever I would put those boots on my feet I danced the whole time, hahaha! I still remember that as if it were just yesterday,O.M.G. And as I grew I knew that I wanted to be Lucille Ball. Bye the time I made it to the sixth grade I realized that I really wanted to be an actress, and a secretary just like my grandmother. Well now I just want to get a B.A. in economics. I forgot to mention that I also wanted to be a syncronized swimmer, and a ballroom dancer. |
