While gas costs continue to rise (especially on the left coast) the pressure to come with more creative solutions to communting has been well discussed.  I think there is more to the picture. This could be an opportunity to make changes that could better our community and our world.

We tend to think of ourselves as being very environmentally aware compared to the rest of the world. I find that while "green" may be part of our lexicon, we still can be complacent, especially at the office. Does anyone have any experience or story to share about how your workplace has become more "green?"

My workplace organized a volunteer group to investigate ways that we could become more "green".  In addition to weekly e-mails about hints and tips for saving energy and being more energy efficient, they sponsored a 6-month content on who could lower their power bill the most.  People were encouraged to form teams, and each month, the members of the team would submit their electronic power bill.  My team actually won - woo hoo!  It's been a very active volunteer group who have done a great job of really making you think, which is sometimes half the battle.

Hey Green Girls!!

I'm so proud of all the efforts I see on this site, and although I'm not working at the moment, (Looking Hard!!!)  I do see more and more people recycling here in LA!!

At my last job, we did the cans, bottles, and paper. We also saved all the boxes we used when moving. We flattened them, tied them and stored them for the next use. It came pretty quickly too! There are now places that recycle toner cartridges, and Freecycle.com for office equipment that is no longer needed.

I've been Green focused for years and so glad to see so many getting into it now!!!!

You guys are awesome!!

I have heard on the radio that driving slower saves gas and carbon emissions.

I've implemented small but significant things like recyling paper, bottles, plastics in my individual office, however,  I've also gotten our building certified as a green building with our county.
