Hello everyone,

I'm new to WomanCo.  first time in the discussion forum. stepping out into entrepreneurship is very frightening for me.  I'll be the first in my family to do so (or even attempt).  full of ideas but have no clue as to were to start.  I am in need of a mentor or some excellent advice  and was wondering if i'm in the right place.

Thanks,

Cherece

Rigsby - Just want to bump your post back up because I know there are several career/life coaches on here who'd love to help you. Also just tons of women on the site who are self-employed and can offer their experience!

Hi Rigsby,

Becoming an entrepreneur is very scary but also exciting. There are some great resources right here on the Womenco site. I recommend you join the group Self-Employed Women as a start. You don't mention what business/industry you plan to focus on. Have you made that decision yet?

Do as much research as you can via the internet. There are many great websites and online groups dedicated to entrepreneurs. There are also a host of podcasts and other resources available to entrepreneurs. Check Meetup.com for local entrepreneur meetings.

Also, on July 9th my jobseeker-oriented podcast, The Savvy Jobseeker will be covering the topic: Transitioning from Employee to Entrepreneur.

I have been an entrepreneur for a long time and currently work with women starting out. I have belonged to many groups over the years, and key to success is to play where you want to be. What do I mean by that? . If you are trying to attract a certain customer show up where they are.

If you show up at all the free events the majority of people who show up can't afford more expensive events and only want to trade with you – it is tougher to find the customer there. If yo want your business to make $200,000 a year, show up where they are!

Congratulations on strting your own business. As you are just starting out as a life coach, my advice is to pick an area that you want to specialize in. It will help you  to focus your marketing messages and allow your ideal clients to find you. I wish you much success.

Thank you so much for your information and encouragement. I want to help women who have been abused, are in shelters, domestic violence issues, divorce, etc... who are looking to transition to the next level and become successful in their goals. I am also looking to help build self esteem in women in various stages of their lives.  My goal is to help women to live life abundantly! I want to help empower women to live life to the fullest!!!!
