Hi!  I am set to have knee surgery tomorrow and was thankful that I will be home the same evening.  I have a home-based business and was pondering that I would not have to worry about down time for the business.  I have worked it out just fine logistically where it should appear seamless!  My question to you all is this:  With your home-based business, what methods did you employ to ensure that your business ran smoothly during your downtime?

Although my business is home based, I am part of a team, so when I need help my associates do any follow-up work that is needed and vice-versa.  I too, am disabled which is what led me to looking for something I can do from home.

Hi, Thanks for the response.  Cross-training is the key, I think!  I am a one-woman show right now...but must work on training others!

Deneen,

What kind of home business do you run? Are you really going to have to let it go during the "downtime" recovery period or will you be functioning nearly at 100%?

I do exceptional qualiy design work with flatback Swarovski crystals.  (www.bydeneen.com)     Right now, some golf products are my hot item this year!  I decorate anything that stands still long enough!  Believe it or not I am back from surgery ready to complete a job with tomorrow's due date on it!  So this time I had no issue with "hard down time" to where I coud not create.  But I think if I gear up several replacements who could do the same quaity work as I do ...but I do a lot of custom work that would be hard to train others how to do.  I will be training 2 people in 3 weeks and hope to have up to speed in a couple of weeks to do easier bulk work.

Good luck with your knee surgery and do what the doctor tells you.

I shall Ladysilver.....my pals say the same thing.  "Do all the excercises and listen to the doc" is the most popular mantra...thank you for your kind words!

Deneen, sounds like you already know the answer, you need to replicate yourself and get some support. That's how your business will really grow and make money while you lie on the beach in Maui! I Highly recommend the book: “the 4-Hour Work Week.”
