I like Smart Casual wear...something that's between formal and informal clothing that can be worn for work and would be suitable enough to wear for a party after work...maybe sleek black trousers with a trendy top or maybe a well fitted jeans with a smart shirt...

As far as shoes..are concerned I think a great pair of black heels is a must

My favorite clothing really depends on the environment I'm in. If I want to cuddle or watch a movie, any 'fancy' uncomfortable clothing is only going to make things worth for the both of us. Sweatshirts and jeans can definitely be as attractive as super-expensive clothes - it just depends on how they are worn!

I probably have only ever taken a liking to the shoes a woman has worn if they were cute sneakers, or ironic combat boots. All of those high heels and designer shoes freak me out, and make me nervous when I walk beside y'all.

A close friend of mine once asserted that women don't dress up for men nearly as much as they dress up to compete with one another, and to live up to competitive standards. Do you think this is true?

Kylenstone it's ironic that you should mention the subject of women dressing up to compete with one another. I had the same discussion with a friend and believe it's partially true. Have you noticed the one up look some women give each other? It's looking from head to toe to find the slighest flaw in someone's attire to call attention too. Petty I know but it's reality.
