So, this is kind of an awkward question. How do keep my breasts healthy as I get older? I don't really feel like talking to my friends about this, so I tihnk WomenCo. might be a good place to discuss it.

I guess I'm interested in advice about how to reduce the risk of breast cancer, but also how to keep them....how to put it: looking good? Do I need a bunch of Potassium, or something? Exercise?

Any help is very appreciated!

I have lumps removed from both my breast at age 18 years. Within a year or so the lumps returned only this time in tiny pieces all over both breast. Since then I  have given birth to my daughter, however I ensure that I do my mothly breast self examination and have a yearly lab examinations. For me it is a blessing to have these lumps in my breasts and be cancer free.

Exercise and regular breast check-ups. (Yearly, I'd say, especially after the age of 26)

Great question and great advice. I think I'll take some of it and put it to use myself.  I just found out not too long ago that my aunt on dad's side of the family has been diagnosed with breast cancer. My  mom's only sister has been battling it for many years.  I was wondering if anyone here knows if my chances are greater for developing  breast cancer because it's on both sides of the family?

I'm not sure about aunts but if a sister or mom has been diagnosed with breast cancer it does put you at greater risk, at least that is what my OB/GYN said when I asked him about the red "AT RISK" paper that was on top of my file.

The link below might answer your question.....
