After reading Jezebel's Article, which is admittedly pretty vulgar....nonetheless, it brings up some ideas that are worthy of discussion.

Should we consider Virginity a physical, biological condition, or a concept? Can Virginity be regained, or is it a "One Shot" type of deal?

Hmm I am a bit torn on this one. I think virginity is a physical condition. The state of being untouched and pentetrated in a sexual way. You can be celibate but not really a virgin again.

the physical aspect of virginity can be to me is a one shot deal. and i dont believe being celibate makes you a virgin. Also even thou a woman or man has never has sex i believe that their emotional and the virginal concept can be taken away when they are molested in any way.

I think it's a bit of both

More or less it's a state of mind -- I have a aquaintance that is technically a "virgin" - becuase her hyman is unbroken -- but she does other things like oral- and various rubbing - etc..   -- to me- that is not being a "virgin"

This word is more "one who is innocent of sexual advances and the world of sexuality"   -- and don't get me started on "born again virgins" just because they got their hyman fixed DOES NOT NEGATE that it was ever broken -- you get 1 innocence- and it's gone

Rape however-- that is different -- if one is rapped- they did not enter the sexual world on their terms-- therefore- when they do have their 1st time by choice-- it really IS

Ok - that is my opinion on this

I pretty much agree with Kpoage. I definitely equate virginity with being innocent of what sex is.

in the biological sense, virginity simply means:

  • a female's hymen is broken or penetrated

  • a male has penetrated into a genital orifice (m/f)

  • a transgender has penetrated into a genital orifice (m/f)

  • a gay idenitified male has penetrated into a genital or anal orifice

  • a lesbian has been penetrated and hymen is broken

in a social sense it means:

  • an individual has had sexual intercourse with another individual

  • an individual has lost thier "innocence"

in a psychological sense it means:

  • an individual had openly and with consent condoned a relationship with sexual interactions: oral, intercourse or otherwise

in a cultural sense it means:

  • selectively and objective meanings

  • an individual has lost their "innocence"

(again womenco, this is a expertise area (sexuality) so please if interested, reply to my post in sex and realtionships...thanks, have fun...
