I love to read and really enjoy reading books where the characters(s) are continued in a series.  I love to see how they grow and change with each book.  Some of my favorite book series are Spenser for Hire by Robert B. Parker, Stephanie Plum by Janet Evonavich, Elvis Cole by Robert Crais, The Bannerman series by John R. Maxim, The Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward, and Eve Dallas/Roarke series by JD Robb.  What are your favorite book series and or characters?

I'm still mourning the end of the Harry Potter books...it was such a great ride!

I like Phillipa Gregory books (The Other Boleyn Sister, The Contant Princess, The Virgin's Lover, etc...) She has a wonderful way of writing. They are not a series but since they take place around the period (more or less) they seem intertwined.

When I was a teenager, early twenties, I loved the different series of books by V. C. Andrews. But there were so many different ones I couldn't keep up. I see they are still writing them even though the author is no longer with us. I would love to start reading them again but not sure where they left off.

It's  really funny reading the answers; I was certain there would be no one who read the Left Behid Series.  That was a very good, captivating series.  I enjoyed it and our daughter had the Left Behind Series for kids.

Thanks for asking

I am also a James Patterson (Alex Cross series) fan. Quite by accident, I discovered Lee Child and his character, Jack Reacher. I'm a fan of Patricia Cornwell, too and have read many of the V.C Andrews books.  James Patterson also wrote a series starting, I think, with The Lake House. Kind of sci-fi.

My very first series was Nancy Drew. I've been hooked on mysteries ever since! One of my current favorites is Diane Mott Davidson whose main character is a caterer. She includes real recipes for the dishes that get eaten in the book.

I just discovered David Rosenfelt's books featuring Andy Carpenter, a NJ lawyer. They are courtoom dramas which remind me of Perry Mason. I used to live in NJ so I love the local references and there is a lot of dry humor in them.

Hey Linda, thanks for the referrals! I love series too, especially when I like the characters. There is a series like Diane’s by Cleo Coyle: Coffeehouse Mysteries - there are good with recipes and easy reads!

I love James Patterson as well (Alex Cross) and I have read several Patricia Cornwell books. GREAT reading!

I did not start reading them until about the first 4 books were written. The first one was so captivating (to use your word) that I could not put it down and finished it in one night. The following day I went to Sam's and purchased the other three, After that I always pre-ordered them before they were released through my local Christian book store. It was hard to have to wait for each one to be written. If I'm not mistaken, in the beginning LaHaye and Jenkins were putting out 2 per year. Then they cut back after several of the books were published to writing one per year. I have all 12 and still read them. (couldn't get into the movie but loved the books)

OMG where do I start??!! Naturally I love the Patterson series w Alex Cross and the Women's Murder Club. I read the Twilight Series a while back and loved it as well as Anne Rice's Vampire Series, LeStat can fly through my window and bite my neck any gosh darn time he feels like it! VC Andrews was another fave as well as the Lord of the Rings series, I made my first friend reading those over the phone long after mom said turn off the lights. I've always been a reader and I suppose if someone stuck a gun to my head and demanded that I pick just one....I'd be dead.

I agree Ann. I did finish the series though I struggled through most of it. Not only were they a bit long winded Chloe ( think that's how they spelled her name.) O...M....G...she just wore me out mentally.
