What do you think about Obama's connection with Bill Ayers, the domestic terrorist?

ok Jean, I love you baby you know that, and I was hoping someone else would go first.

Are we really going to decide that a political activist of the 1970's when times were VERY different than now is a terrorist? Come on! That's just party propaganda! If we are going to do that then we also need to call Malcolm X a terrorist, and several other political activists of the 60's and 70's. Let's leave the 70's and what they were for what they were, ok?

as for me, I already told you enought I can respect your side...but really I am glad someone who knows you more personally, told you the truth this time...because seriously...I was getting rather bored and tired of putting the truth on OBAMA out, vs. the bullsh*t and smut you keep trying to push out there...so, again...this was not worth my comment...

and I am glad Ann stepped up to the plate to tell it like it is...well done...and I dont even know which vote she is casting, but the comment is all so valid...

and plus I already commented on the issues of this particular topic in another forum or article you posted that was all bs...

There are better tactics of support but I understand you are only doing as your side does is teaching you...fighting dirty...I wont take that route or spread lies on the other side...no need...like I keep saying...it will all come to past...history in the making...

wow Jean, it's not like you to be so nasty! AND you DO NOT know WHO I am voting for.

Here's what I can tell you though - it is going to take something radical to change the direction is country has gone - the "same ol" politics of either party are not going to be enough.

Ann, I can't speak for Jean, and I don't want to get into a firestorm, but the idea I got was that her (Jean's) post was in response to Angela's (at least that is what I thought after seeing her referral to "smut" as Angela used in her post) and it is a little obvious that Obama is the candidate Angela is voting for. I could be wrong, but that's the idea I got.

Also, you are correct that Ayers did do these bombings in the 70's. But as I recall, Ayers also said as recently as 9/11/01 (I think we all know what was significant that day) that he wished his organization (Weather Underground) could have done more in regard to bombing more buildings in this country that they bombed. He was a domestic terrorist, and frankly it is important to take into consideration when the man we're talking about putting in the White House has any kind of connections to someone who has bombed buildings in his own country. It would be important no matter who the candidate is or what party he/she represents ESPECIALLY in a post-9/11 country.

We do agree that it's going to take a radical change to turn this country around instead of either party's "same ol politics."

Thank you, I was referring to Angela's post.

I have to admit that I am really tired of doing this, because I know it's as simple as google research (weeding out the blogs and little known "news" sites). It takes just a few minutes more to find the truth, rather than spreading rumors. Obama and Ayers worked together....hmmm, well I worked with someone who was a manipulative, crazy jerk, does/did his behaviour reflect me or the person I am, heck NO! As someone else mentioned, these are old politcal tactics that don't work so well anymore - they have always been wrong - but many are finally seeing that this just doesn't cut it anymore. I hope that by posting up these things, I'll inspire those of you who are copy/pasting rumors w/out research to do your own research before proclaiming it to yourself and others as truth.

The topic of Obama / Ayers is addressed on Obama's website, here, and includes several links/sources to back it up:

Several other rumors are addressed here: http://www.fightthesmears.com/

I really do not care who your response was to. When you ask a question and post a discussion as the leader of that discussion you have to stay OPEN to what people post even if you feel it's inappropriate. That is my concern. When you posted the question you became the facilitator of the discussion. If you want to just state your opinion then make it a statement not a question.

Of course it's important, but even more important, is taking a look at those accusations in depth. Just because someone worked with or knew someone who was a terrorist, doesn't mean that person is automatically in that category. No more than I should be called a radical/judgemental person just because I'm a Christian. Many say that the mainstream media is biased, but we can also say the same for the media that reports these "deep ties/connections" of Obama's. If Obama were to sink to the McCain level, he'd have all kinds of "ties" to insinuate. I almost wish he would, but at the same time I'd be dissapointed, because any way you slice it, it's wrong.

First of all I think a few things should be said since someone brought up the issuse of character.

McCain has very littlecharacter IN MY OPNION!  This man ran around on his first wife on many occasions by his own admission!  To me, that shows lack of judgement and character. Where were the religious teachings that he follws or is he a cafeteria christain and just chooses to follow the rules he wants?  Even your beloved leader Reagan was upset about the way he treated his former wife.

As for Palin how can she run under the banner "country first" when she has ties to the AIP who wants to separate themseleves from the U.S.! You should be afraid of these people who tell you one thing and do the opposite. Now I realize that her husband is more involved with the AIPthan she is, but if we follow your line of logic, then she is just as guilty! By telling the AIP to keep up the good work tells me that she agrees with their policies and practices. Seems to me that these people have the same views as Timothy McVeigh, and you're saying we should worry about Obama?

I must say that a little of my opinion of McCain went up when he corrected a woman at his rally we she refered to him as an arab. But for me it's a little to late.

I won't go into anything else ( there is SO much more!) I just thought since we are throwing around character I would toss this in.

Just my opnion that's all.
