True although we do not spoil our dog. He is old and sleeps alot and he is happy if we spend the day petting him on his belly. Lately we noticed that his sight and hearing are worse, but he is 14.

Yes.  Dogs become a part of your family.  I live with two boys.  It is hard being the only female, but since we brought home our "little girl" everything seems different.  I do let her sleep with us.  In the cooler season, she curls up to us a lot.  That is my favorite thing to do when I am feeling a little down.  It makes life feel so much better.

True.  Not only is our dog our "little boy", but we have two cats that are our "little girls".   Animals respond very well to being treated like family.  We don't have children unfortunately, but our pets make up for it in so many different ways.

We were not blessed with childern either and like you, Anne, our 2 dogs slipped right in that slot. My husband says our yellow lab has a better vocabulary than he does!!!  We need to pay attention to the unconditional love that pets give.Have a great week

True.   If anyone follows me at all, they know how I feel about my pets. They are my kids, now that my children are grown and out of the house. It's true about their unconditional love. If you have pets, you know what I'm talking about...

"What you do for yourself - any gesture of kindness, any gesture of gentleness, any gesture of honesty and clear seeing toward yourself - will affect how you experience your world. In fact, it will transform how you experience the world. What you do for yourself, you're doing for others, and what you do for others, you're doing for yourself."
