I met a model years ago in Kansas city, Missouri. She was giving beauty tips about everything from head to toe. She says; "If you had not had time 2 get your feet done and want 2 wear a cute pair of mules, you do your own quick pedicure and use Vicks rub on your heels & feet, making sure 2 put on a pair of white cotton socks 4 a few hours and your feet will look good as new". I tried that and it worked like a charm, matter of fact I didn't smell the vicks rub once I put my mules on.Still 2 this day I will resort 2 that advice.

Eyebrows:
Shaping Your Eyebrows: How to get the perfect arch shape
Shape is also crucial, and if your eyebrows are coarse, creating and maintaining the ideal shape is difficult because pulling out individual hairs can leave large gaps, or severely shorten the length of a brow if you happen to pull out the half-inch hair on the very end.
The perfect eyebrow starts above the inside corner of your eye (over the tear duct), and ends at the outside corner, above your eyelashes. Eyebrows should have an arch: in nature, it’s rarely where it should be, which is a frustrating commentary on standards of beauty. Ideally, the arch happens over the iris, the colored part of your eye. It should be gentle, so if you’re planning to reshape your arch, take it very, very slowly. Do a hair or two a day, and err on the side of caution. Hasty plucking can give you a surprised look that lasts for weeks.
How to Pluck Eyebrows with Tweezers: The Do's and Don'ts
Many women pluck their eyebrows with tweezers. Some wax them, but wax is tricky because it’s hard to get an accurate shape. And some go to a hair removal salon to try "threading." Although threading is newly popular in the United States, it is a centuries-old technique of hair removal practiced in India. The eyebrow experts say never, never to pluck your eyebrows from above, but always to pluck from the bottom of the brow. I say, if you have some wild or stray or bushy hairs growing above your brows, feel free to pluck them. I do it all the time, and nothing bad happened to me.
I read somewhere that it’s okay to trim your eyebrows. I think this is good if the single hairs are long and thick. You can pluck some hairs and trim the others, brushing them up, evening the ends (be careful not to trim too much!), then brushing them down checking again and again as you go along.
Use Eyebrow Gel to Keep Your Brow Shape Neat after Tweezing
Finally, keeping your brows neat can be done with special eyebrow gel, or you can use a little hair gel to smooth them and keep them shapely.

My Mom has the most beautiful skin. It's not even fair. For as long as I can remember she always told moisturize-mositurize-moisturize. It doesn;t even matter what product you use as long as your skin is hydrated. It was the best advice she ever gave me regarding beauty. I use good ol Oil Of Olay because I love the smell and it makes my skin feel silky.

I've never tried Vicks. I've heard of Vaseline and socks, but not Vicks. I'm going to have to try that!

I'm always struggling to keep my haircolor looking as great as it does when I first leave the salon. It's always going to fade, even using the super expensive, vegan, formulated-for-colored-hair shampoos. What I finally discovered works is just not washing your hair as much. The most I can go is one day after the first wash, but if you can get creative with hats, headbands, etc. - not dousing hair in water is the best for saving color!

Oranges
The fruit acid loosens dead skin cells. Cut a fresh orange in half and squeeze the juice of one half into a bowl. Add 1/4 cup granulated sugar and 1/4 cup olive oil and then blend into a moisture-rich scrub. Next, rub the exposed side of the other half of the orange over knees, elbows, heels, and any other dry spots. Last, rub in the sugar mixture to slough off dead skin. Rinse with warm water and pat skin dry.

Re; AngelaK ,Glad you bought up the topic on moisterizing, How correct your Mom is.
Body Butters:
Because of their creamy consistency, body butters may take a few minutes longer than lotion to be fully absorbed, but the result is worth the wait -- even rough spots, like elbows and knees, stay soft throughout the day. And for cracked, scaly skin -- so common during fall and winter -- a good body butter delivers relief no regular lotion can match. For maximum impact, apply it when skin is still slightly damp from bathing, which will seal in the moisture. Take advantage of the fact that body butters linger on the skin and gently massage your arms and legs, using long strokes to work in the cream. Good body butters should be thick but not overly greasy; look for products that contain skin-nourishing herbs like lavender and calendula, vitamins C and E, aloe, and other naturally soothing ingredients.
We slathered, smeared, and smoothed our way through dozens of body butters to find our favorites. These choices use natural, healthy ingredients to provide luxurious, long-lasting moisture.
I love Body Butter and Wal-Mart sells on of my favorites that's really awesome by Tree Hut called Nut Butter. It's a Brazilian Nut Shea Butter.

Hair Dyes?
Nearly 7 out of every 10 American women color their hair to hide gray roots, explore whether blondes have more fun, or just try something new. But given that the ingredients lists on hair dyes typically read like chemistry textbooks, we have to wonder: Are dyes actually safe to put on our heads?
For the most part, the answer is a qualified yes -- at least as far as cancer is concerned. Dozens of studies have ruled out connections between hair dye and bladder and breast cancer, brain tumors, and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Skin Concerns
Health experts still stop short of giving dyes a clean bill of health, though, partly because of the skin reactions they can cause. Kathleen Davis, M.D., an integrative dermatologist in New York City, says that contact dermatitis from p-Phenylenediamine (PPD), a known allergen, can result in temporarily swollen eyelids or rashes around the hairline. Since PPD is more concentrated in darker shades, it's a particular concern for brunettes.
Would-be blondes have bleach to blame for blisters and burning on sensitive scalps as well as lightheadedness. But the bleaching processes have improved: "The amount of ammonia in dyes and bleaches is very slight now compared with 20 years ago," says Eva Scrivo, a New York City colorist, referring to the potentially skin-irritating chemical used in products to help color penetrate hair. "In the '60s, products contained 20 percent ammonia, but now they're down to 1.5 percent." She says some new bleaches don't contain any ammonia at all -- and still work well if you have light to medium brown hair. If you're worried, try a patch test before subjecting your whole scalp to the dye in question, or take a lighter approach. "With highlights," Scrivo says, "nothing touches the scalp."

Three Fundamental Skin Care Techniques No Woman Should Skip
(1) Cleanse skin no more than twice daily with a mild cleaner that doesn't over dry you skin. Be sure to use a cleanser meant for your skin type (2) Gently exfoliate your skin on a daily basis to remove dead skin cells and expose newer, healthier glowing skin underneath. (3) Apply a moisturizer. A moisturizer with sunscreen of at least SPF 15 should be applied during the day.

Pajamas Can Bring Out a More Sexy Side of You
If you’re like most of us, you sleep in something along the lines of a comfortable t-shirt and a pair of sweats. Give yourself a little pick-me-up with cute and sexy nighties, and wear them around the house just for kicks. Try a baby-doll or a strappy silk confection that clearly wasn’t meant to be slept in. Silk pajamas are fun for lounging, and even an old-fashioned embroidered cotton nightgown can put you in a different frame of mind. As you’re getting into bed, swap your play-clothes for — you guessed it — that comfy T-shirt and those soft, old sweats.

Milk:
The lactic acid in milk serves as a gentle skin exfoliant, while its natural fat content acts as a body moisturizer. Add a gallon of whole milk to a tubful of warm water and soak. It's a great alternative to sugar and salt scrubs, which may be too abrasive for people who suffer from eczema, psoriasis, or sensitive skin. If you prefer a fragranced bath, add 10 to 20 drops of an essential oil such as lavender.

I color my hair and have for several years to cover the grey -- I'm not ready to see grey yet! I agree with TallAnna that to preserve color until your roots grow out and you absolutely HAVE to color again, just don't wash it as much. I used to wash my hair every day, now I just wash every other day or two, if I can get away with it (can't usually stretch it in summer when I've been sweating). I also got tired of paying salon prices for color since my hair grows really fast. I was scared to death the first time, but I found out how easy it is to color at home and CHEAP! I experiment with darker colors, so I'm glad to see the post by rarebutterfly about cancer causing ingredients. After almost three years of coloring my hair myself, I like Revlon's Colorsilk color the best. It has no ammonia, doesn't smell as bad as any of the others I tried, and lasts a long time. I get it at Walmart for about $3.00 a box, which covers my long layered hair (a little past my bra strap). Without the layers, I think I would need more than one box, but for now it is just enough to cover all of it. I was using dark brown, then went to brown black, and now I'm using Blue black, and it's beautiful! My natural hair color is black, so it really enhances the shine and covers the grey, which show up extremely well against black hair. It is like a Blue Raven -- black with blue undertones and my husband likes it the most of any color I've used so far! I did not expect that! For first timers, though, I would recommend either getting a comb attachment for putting on the color (it fits on the bottle--I got one at drugstore.com for $4 and it's worth every penny cause I reuse it over and over) or buy Loreal Preference with the comb attachment that comes with it. I found the Loreal a little too drying because it is much stronger smelling and has ammonia. But I don't know if I could get the same good EVEN results without the comb attachment to help cover all underneath. I could not find one at Sally's. It is purple and comes attached to its own empty bottle, but I was delighted to discover that you don't have to transfer all the chemicals to the purple bottle since the screw-on comb part fits the bottle that comes with my colorsilk! I just get it all shaken and ready and pop the comb attachment on the bottle and It's SO much easier.

I use Wen by Chaz Dean - it is a all natual product and it is fabulous! My color doesn't fade and why? Beause soap has a chemical in it that fads it! Better yet, my hair is healthier than ever!

Hair colors:
What is the difference between permanent haircolor and semi-permanent haircolor?
Permanent haircolor changes the natural color of your hair and will not wash out. The color remains until you cut the hair or cover it up with another permanent color. You can use it to cover gray, darken your hair, or change the tone (black, brown, red or blonde). SoftSheen-Carson makes 2 brands of permanent haircolor: Dark and Lovely® Fade-Resistant Rich Conditioning Color; and Hi Rez® High Resolution Haircolor.
Semi-permanent haircolor, coats the hair strand with color and can be used to blend grey or to deepen your original haircolor. It usually washes out in 8-10 shampoos and can be used the same day as a relaxer. Dark and Lovely® Reviving Colors® is SoftSheen-Carson’s only semi-permanent brand.

How often should I re-apply hair color?
You should touch-up permanent hair color every 4-6 weeks as your natural hair grows in. If you’ve had another chemical process since your last color application, (Relaxer or Permanent Wave) wait 2 weeks before re-applying permanent hair color. Semi-Permanent hair color can be applied every 2 weeks as well as right after you relax your hair. Follow the package insert for complete instructions on touch-up applications.
