Out of place

Posted about 1 month ago I'm sitting in my dining room with all the windows open, it a beautiful fall morning, and I just heard a rooster crow. Ok I live in a small own, but not in a rural area. I guess that is right up with the turtle I saw in our front yard last weekend. There is no water close by, none of our neighbors has a pond. What have you seen or heard recently that seemed totally out of place?

| Posted about 1 month ago Where did the turtle come from? The mental image I have is so funny...a turtle walking up to your front door... It's not so strange for my area but when I first moved up here I was in my living room one morning and saw a deer running down my street. Like I said, it's probably not strange to most people but for a city girl like me I freaked out! I could not believe that a deer was running down the street in the middle of the morning and no one even seemed to notice. It's not who you are that holds you back. It's who you think you're not. - Unknown |

Angela, I have no clue where that turle came from or where it went. It remains a mystery! Sure hope he found what he was looking for! Jean Bentley

| Posted about 1 month ago The last thing that was out of place was me at my daughter's field hockey practice. I don't seem to fit in with the other parents, somehow. Jane G. Chambers

| Posted about 1 month ago I was feeling out of place too at my advocacy training group -- if you look at the topic I created in Women In Crisis group called "Confidentiality or Human Life." It's fairly lengthy so I won't repeat it here, but I definitely felt like the only one who saw a critical issue that did not sound right to me. In terms of animals, I always have gangs of ravens invading my deck -- they usually travel in packs of 4 or more and they are bigger than most people think they are (so are eagles). But in the midst of all of these daily roving raven gangs, there has been the most beautiful blue jay I have ever seen. It is also much larger than regular blue jays and is black and dark blue-black. It keeps coming to visit me every day for some reason. This has seemed a bit out of place to me. But it is gorgeous and I look for it now. It's not who's going to LET me, it's who's going to STOP me. -- Ayn Rand |

A fair number of them do, because their girls have been involved in this instructional hockey league for a few years, and this is Samantha's first year. But it has more to do with me - living in "disability world" I've learned a different language and have different issues and perspectives and experiences. (There are a couple of short essays on this - "Welcome to Holland" and "Holland Schmolland" that capture this.) I don't want to stereotype the other moms as "suburban soccer moms," but I know that I could never fit that stereotype. Jane G. Chambers

Ok, so the mental image of the turtle is just too cute. The last totally out of place thing I remember is totally gross. There was a condom in our birdbath about a month age. We have a lot of crows in the area and I think that's how it got there-- anyhow, I certainly hope so! | Posted about 1 month ago I live in Chicago, not the suburbs, but the city. And there was a family of racoons living in the abandoned house across the street. I promise one morning I was getting something out the trunk of the car, and one of them waved to me. I ran SO fast in that house!!! And then just the other day, I was at a friends house, and a racoon was sitting on the garbage can. He was just sitting there chilling. Then he jumped down, and tried to open the garbage can lid. Then there is a flock of what appears to be lime green parrots in the neighborhood. Ms. Antoinette M. Brown I am a divine original fashioned by God to be radiantly beautiful! | Posted about 1 month ago My mom, my sister and I were sharing a room at a ranch - in the middle of nowhere - with some family (for summer vacation). When my mom blows her nose it is always deep and very loud. She has terrible allergies. Anyway, it was the middle of the night - cool enough that we had the windows open throughout the house. She sat up to blow her nose - and did so, as usual, pretty loud and deep. A few seconds later we hear....MMMMMOOOOOOO!!!!! She blew her nose again, and the cow answered again. We were in hysterics, trying not to wake up the rest of the house. Next morning my mom's cousin said "so, I heard you conversing with the cows last night..." ~“I love debate. | Posted about 1 month ago At our former house, we lived 1/2 mile from the city. We saw an amazing number of wild animals: Coyote, wolf, many deer, birds and turkeys, skunks, raccoons, opossums, squirrels, chipmunks, frogs, toads, snakes, a bear cub, and the footprints of a mountain lion. Now we live in a very rural area and we see an average number of deer, toads, frogs, deer, and birds. |
