What are you doing today for your business?
Posted about 1 month ago Today is Wendesday and as I'm getting geared up to make some follow-up phone calls (my weakness - I'd rather email but it is not as effective as picking up the phone.) I was wondering what the other women who work from home are doing for their business today! I love to know what you're doing, it could inspire me or someone else to keep plugging along! Jean Bentley

| Posted about 1 month ago I will be mapping a new area of offices to visit tomorrow and emailing my flier out to some potential clients. I also need to check on what I need to do tax related as a new sole proprietor business owner, state and federal. |

Diana, You sure seem to be moving right along. What is your tip for staying focused and motivated. Jean Bentley

I'm not feeling focused and motivated actually. When I'm on, it's usually fueled by my need to succeed along with knowing I made the committment by getting the business license so now I need to make it work. I'm determined to succeed. Not to mention the financial crunch I am in. I'm contemplating picking up a part time job to stay above water until my business gets moving. With this financial crisis in this country the real estate market is not very stable so I'm going to have to wait it out before people buy in to my business. Until then all I can do is get my name out there. |

| Posted about 1 month ago As a writer, I struggle every day to maintain BIC (Butt In Chair) time and get into a flow. I have several books reaching the ending point but I can't stop editing. I go from thinking it's crap to thinking I'm brilliant (mostly the former). I intend to self publish but keep feeling like I'm not ready to hand it over. I guess I'm just afraid of rejection like most people. So today, I will try to put some finishing touches on one of them and just keep taking baby steps -- baby steps are what has gotten me this far, and they really do add up after a while. I just keep thinking I'll "know" when it's ready for primetime. It's not who's going to LET me, it's who's going to STOP me. -- Ayn Rand |

Hadn't heard of BIC time before, I love it and need it. Its more like TOC (Time Off Computer) time. Um...just like now, I should be making some follow up phone calls instead looking at the new posts on WomenCo. Jean Bentley

| Posted about 1 month ago Another troubling part of my day is "GAS" -- Get A Snack. You pay for it first at the store and then you pay for it again by having a larger Butt to put in the Chair. Hurdles and temptations EVERYWHERE! It's not who's going to LET me, it's who's going to STOP me. -- Ayn Rand |

| Posted about 1 month ago I do not have my own business currently. But I sit inside a huge cubicle, designing pieces I don't like, with the knowledge that I am gaining experience and knowledge necessary to successfully launch my own business. So I am having patience today for my business. And am growing. |

| Posted about 1 month ago Today I researched joining my chamber of commerce...I also saw a great idea on etsy.com....someone makes thank you cards for clients upon purchase...I set about to develop my own thank you cards that look like business cards to insert with all my sales...trying to be a little different than all the rest! I also did some sample work today as I have a show coming up in November here in Wailuku,Maui. I am awaiting my product tags so that I can label all my stuff for sale....can't wait for those! I also researched out some earring display cases as they are perfect for some of my products for the November show! I also finished a job for some clients in the Netherlands....after writing this...I feel very busy...did not think I was today! :-) LOL! :-) |

Deneen, Thank you cards are a great idea. Thats what makes SendOutCards so great, you can set up a series of thank you cards to your clients and send them at a click of a the mouse. Remember to say thank you after the sale not just at the time of the sale. Customers loved to feel they are appreciated. Jean Bentley

| Posted about 1 month ago Okay, I'm uber excited about what I did today for advertising my business!
My neighborhood is having their annual neighborhood yard sale...over 100 homes having yard sales. I have advertising on the back of my vehicle on the windshield. I parked my car at the end of the driveway, plastered my car with magnets, and put out little halloween baggies with a business card, a sample and a booking coupon. 90% of my baggies are gone, and I only have like 3 magnets left on my car!

| Posted about 1 month ago Today, I am taking care of me on a personal level. I will take time to meditate, perhaps go for a ride on the motorcycle with my man and enjoy some football later. I will heat up chili that I made last night and turned out awesome with cornbread for lunch and consider what to do for dinner. I will burn some incense and balance myself this evening and make a sachet for bringing positive abundance. Then I will watch the Sunday night shows that I so enjoy. How does this have to do with my business? We should all take time away from working now and then to relax and rejuvenate. Specially those who work from home who tend to put a lot of time in thinking and doing for their business. Are you working to live or living to work? |

| Posted about 1 month ago I've been having so many issues with cancellations. It is so frustrating. So much goes into planning and scheduling. I do the usual follow up calls and make sure I am constantly in touch as to prevent this from happening. How do you deal with customers or potential customers backing out? This week I plan to get back to basics. Having your own business takes constant focus and I have to admit to myself that I have been veering off that path due to either my full time job or other obligations. So this week I vow to get focused and focus on ME and this business! I just have to repeat teh advice that many women here have given me - "YOU GET WHAT YOU PUT IN". It's not who you are that holds you back. It's who you think you're not. - Unknown |

Angela, I hateed that about doing home parties. What I was told, when I was doing home parties was to keep the hostess excited, if she's excited it will show when she invites her freinds, etc. She has to be able to realize the benefit to her. So true, so true! You get out what you put in! Someone also told me to work like you want you downline to work. Jean Bentley

| Posted 29 days ago Good Morning Ladies, I was reading your posts and you all have some really great ideas. I love the idea of parking your car on the street for the yard sale and plastering it with magnets. That sounds like a good idea with Halloween coming. A lot of moms are taking their kids out and they usually stand at the end of the driveway while the kids go up to the door. Today I am working a list of local business that I can contact to see if I can set up in their office so their employees can shop during their lunch breaks. June Sockol

| Posted 22 days ago I just returned from a 3 day conference and I have taken today to go through all of my notes and pull out those ideas that I want to take action on. I started a project folder for each of them. Now instead of flipping through pages trying to remember what I wanted to work on, I've got a finite number of things that are easy to grab and prioritize. |

| Posted 18 days ago I worked on several emails to current clients, and sent proofs of some work I did for a client to her for her approval and order, and painted a stand that will hold my creations I am using for a fair day on Friday in town. I also started decorating a brand new idea...a switch plate with pink crystal turtles on it surrounded by clear crystals...I shall post pics once done. This one will take a while to finish! I love creating! It is the best part of the week! :-) |
