Hey everyone. I'm going to be serious for once in a topic, hope it's alright. I'm just not going to be myself for a while.

I have been keeping up with the news surrounding the war and what politics I can understand. And I wish I hadn't.

We are in a Recession and almost at a loss of any type of employment in all 50 states. I have an idea, crazy as it is, and I would ask you all to join me.

Do you have a bicycle? Maybe a good old Little Red Wagon you could hook up to the back of your bicycle?

I propose this:   Take mom and grama's delicious recipies for cookies, pies, crumbles, maybe even crisps and put the dry ingerdients in a canning jar with the directions for the adding of the wet ingredients and how to bake it all. Put the load of goodie jars in that wagon and just take a ride around town selling them.

Most likley, this is already being done and being sold in stores. I don't care. It's been thought of and done, but I'm thinking about it again. The economy is striving to make things everywhere turn into a "Green" state, and there is all this rucus about articifial this and that. I am always wondering and, quite frankly, getting pissed at the fact that you no longer see someone just walking down the road with a tool belt slung over their shoulder. I know why though. Because the people this day and age has made us had spoiled any lingering and fighting sence of trust in strangers. You can't help someone out of the goodness of your heart with out suspision and hate or fear being slammed down on your shoulders. I am so sick and tired of it! I want to help people gain trust back in to this world!

So, I am thinking again on the goodie jar creation. There should really be no way to make something REALLY homemade artificial in any way, right? There fits in the "Green" that is being craved. Human contact, scandalous and fear ignighting for some folks, yes. Oh well. You are human, not a turtle. Come out of society's peroverbial shell and see what you are missing. Buy a large jar of a dessert mix and save yourself the trouble of having to talk to the monster in law who hates your cooking.

So. What do you think? Can you do it? Message me, tell me what you think, maybe I need to add something. And, no. I won't take anything out of this plan, I like it. Now I need to convince you that you like it too, eh?          Thought so. RSVP.

Its actually not a bad idea.  Anything that you can do, using a skill you already have is a great way to earn some extra cash.   I would start where you live, where you might be recognized or let them know that you live down the street, on the next block, etc and that you're doing this to make some extra cash.

I'd say, go for it and keep us posted.

This might be off the wall, but our local grocery stores sell produce grown locally -- why not this?  Also, any little restaurants, health food stores and -- ?? Cracker Barrel seems to do alot of this too.  It's a great idea.  Our local farmers market is also a place where folks bring their own and sell -- most of its all gone before days end.

N. Shue,

For me, price of ready to bake products is important. If the items are too costly, I will not buy them. These are simple ideas that I see in the stores:

Food items:

Dry ingredients for hot chocolate, flavored coffees or tea

Cookie ingredients in a jar

Spice mixes

Toppings for Brown Betty, crisps, etc.

Biscuit or pancake mixes

Flavored oils and vinegars

Non-food items:

Fragrant bath oil or bath salt

Potpourri

I might pay more for the wholesome foods suggested here especially if I knew it was for a good cause. I think you'd need to consider doing bulk to keep the price down.  One of the reasons junk food is so popular is the price -- good for you ingredients (w/out chemicals) costs more, I think most people understand that and would pay a bit more -- I think I would.
