I live in Argentina and this group`s posted photo is from Misiones region - Cataratas del Iguazu. It is so close to Brazil. Did you travel to this region? Would you like to share your experience?

I haven't been to South America but I have been to Spain and loved it. It was my first trip to Europe. My husband and I could never, ever decide where to go on vacation so we wrote a few destinations on a peice of paper, tossed them in a hat and picked one. That's how we ended up in Spain. We've used this method since we were married and not only does it work, but it's ridiculously fun and exciting because we never know where we will end up.

Hi Jorgelina,

I have not been to South America, but I have been to Mexico. Maybe I will learn some things in your group. Post some pictures too.

Thanks for the invitation.

Regards,

My brother has been, but I have gone to several parts of Mexico: Acapulco, Oaxaca, Cancun and more recently to Baja Sur on the Sea of Cortez side. Som ephotos at flickr.com/photos/pantheraz

The only place I've been in S. America has been Brasil. Sao Paulo is more of a concrete jungle amassed with way too much traffic, but if you can get to Rio de Janeiro, some of the smaller beach towns like Parati or even up to Bahia, it is unbelievably beautiful. You can really feel a sense of the warmth Brasilian people exude and how it translates into everything they do from samba, soccer, food, music. A Brasilian friend of mine said, "Brasilian's laugh so they don't have to cry". I think that this saying serves for S.America in general because sometimes the most impoverished and politically stunted environments can produce the most vibrant cultures.

I've been to San Jose but didn't stay too long.  I love South America.  I've been to Spain, but I guess that's Europe!  I've also been to Panama, that's South America.  South America is a beautiful region of  the world. I love the music and the culture and the cuisine.  The music has a West African influence.

There are also some Creole connections and my family is from Haiti.  Haiti has strong musical and cultural ties to South American and Hispaniola (Dominican Republic).

I have not been to Latin America but would like to visit one day. My husband has a cousin who lives in Guatamala. She turned an avocado farm into a working vacation farm after the death of her husband.
