Posted 3 months ago Okay, I am opening this title of discussion to anyone who would like to input on pros and cons of being a booth rental stylist and of marketing yourself to build clientel, especially in a location of minimal traffic! |

| Posted 2 months ago Well, I don't know about over there, but with booths often being expensive and hard to come by, it's a growing trend to be a mobile hairdresser. It's a trend that the customers really appreciate, and I find that more of my friends that have hairdressers have a mobile one than go to the salon. What do you think of that option? |

| Posted 2 months ago I dont agree at all with that idea. As a booth renter stylist, I know you would not make nearly as much money having to travel to every client. Think of all the gas and miles we would have to use. Also, we could not have nearly as many clients in one day. A hair cut takes 30 to 45 mins. We book them back to back to make money. There is no time to have to drive every where. We need the proper equipment to give you the best results. It is very hard on are back to not have the proper chair. . We need a hydralic chair to get our clients to our proper height. A big mirror, (many clients think the mirror is for them to see but it is actually for us to help make sure to give an even cut.) We need hooded dryers, shampoo bowls, proper lighting, ect. If someone wants a quality cut, color, perm or whatever they are getting done. It is important to be in a salon to get the best results. I could list many, many more reasons but I think I have made my point. |

| Posted 2 months ago I have used stylists who rent their booths within a salon. The salon provided and maintained the the equipment, but the stylist owned her own scissors and supplies. Stylists could buy hair dye, shampoo, conditioner, etc. from the salon at cost plus a small markup for convenience. I had a good experience and the stylists were happy especially if they worked part time. |

Actually, I have the proof that this is not true. I know women who work as mobile hairdressers, and I'm friends with the women who's hair they do. The work is top quality, and the women are quite satisfied. The prices are reasonable because the overhead is very low. The colour, the perm and the cut is of far superior quality to many of the salons in the area. Plus, the service is far more personal and friendly. There are many, many good reasons to be a mobile hairdresser, and the idea is very popular here for every single one of them. |
I wish we had some of those here! Also think of busy women who are at work constantly that need their hair done...if you could go to them I am sure it would be a win win for everyone! Make sure you ajust your rate though to allow for travel.
