I really screwed up

Posted 3 months ago I found some amazing jobs yesterday and for the first time in my life I decided to apply online. I usually make a resume specific for the job I am applying for so I make it at the time I apply. I was SO excited about these positions ( one inparticular ) that I made sure to spell check and punctuation, check grammar, all that. All the gigs were close in requirements so I only had to make 1 resume! I was even more excited! For the rest of the day I was floating on air, thinking of how nice it would be. To grab a gig like this would catapult my career. I was really pleased with my profile too, so I sent a copy to my Mom and sister ( my cheerleaders What if they do???? How do I explain such a silly mistake? If I was the hiring manager I would not want to hire someone who seemed to fraudulently add experience. I just lost the gig before I had a chance to get it. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Majestic Service

| Posted 3 months ago Don't fret too much about it. I have been looking through resumes after resumes for the past few weeks for 5 different positions. As someone who has seen so many, I have noticed that everyone makes mistakes. Not all of these resumes are perfect. In addition, the hiring person probably has seen dozens of resumes that eventually they just scan through them so not all the details do pop out to the naked eye. However, if that person is smart enough he/she can probably guess that it was a typo by doing the math. Trust me, it is not as bad as you think. |

| Posted 2 months ago I really wouldn't make too much of it. If all of the rest of your information is correct, they're likely to realize that it was a typo, and how many people can say they never make those? If you work for someone who unconditionally demands 100% perfection 100% of the time and has no sense of humour, how long do you expect to stay on that job anyway? I'm sure you'll do fine. |

| Posted 2 months ago What's done is done. I misspelled the name of the organization I was applying to in a cover letter- and here I am a year later and a year into that same job. Not all mistakes are deal breakers. And regardless, that has been written, no use stressing over it. I am sure you will overcome this and your experience will shine through! Korina Anja |

thanks, Korina, that was really encouraging! We tend to worry too much about our mistakes, don't we? |

). I showed my husband and he commented on the mistake but I still didn't catch it. Late last night my mom pointed it out.
I was devastated! I had put 25 years experience when it should have been 15. I was not 10 at the beginning of my career! Now I am hoping they dont call. But my question is...
