When I first started scrapbooking I got carried away. I mean totally carried away. I think I had an entire book of my daughter's first month of life. I literally took a picture of EVERY move she made. Then it occurred to me that she would be inhertiting these books and realized by the time she started kindergarten I would have filled her entire room up.

So I started over and decided to take one event each month for her first year so she'd have 12 pages total. Easy. As she got older I do it by season. It's managable now.

My family does a lot of fruit picking during the seasons so I have lots of pics of pumpkin picking and apple picking and my favorite - christmas tree picking. By the time my husband chops one down he is so aggravated, so naturally I am right there taking his picture. We've gotten some pretty funny pics. There are definitley no limits with scrapbooking!

I also find that some of the pictures that I would have normally tossed (had it been a traditional photo album), or kick myself for even taking, make the best pictures to add to a scrap book.  Take for example one of the pictures I have of my son playing football at age 6. The picture was far away, and you couldn't see his number, and certainly couldn't see his face on the photo is awesome. It shows just how little he was playing football. You have the field in the background, and then this little dot in orange/white...It's awesome. I wish I could scan a few of my pages, because i'm getting better. I did a page last night of myself.

I try to do 8x8 of events (going to the beach, taking a ride to Santa Barbara for the day) and a 12x12 for big holidays, birthdays and vacations. We love July 4th and Halloween, throw some Christmas in there and you got yourself a party!

We do small books for my 3 year old...usually all pink with tons of Princess things. Go figure.

Here's one video which I thought was quite good for someone to keep in mind while making a scrapbook.

I start off with a group of pictures I want to make a page with and then pick out the paper and so on.  It all just comes to me somehow.  I don't block it out, use rulers, plan, or even measure to make sure stuff is even.  I have a few pages that I made when I thought about setting up at a flea market.  I'll probably use them for something one day or give them to my niece for her kids.  But I just love mixing and matching stuff.  I always journal about the pictures though.  Even if it's only a few lines.  I so feel that's important as then generations will know what was going on, funny stories that can be taken for fact and who we all were in those pictures:)

when your journal your scrapbook pages, do you use paper (ex. vellum) or do you journal in your own handwriting. I have several pages, that I would like to journal, but haven't decided on how to do it.

I would like to get married again someday to a really understanding man who wouldn't roll his eyes because I want to make a scrapbook of our first year together, with all of its ups and downs!  Including pictures and journal entries.  Wouldn't that make a cool anniversary present, to go back and look at it?  And then make another one for all of the milestone anniversaries, like the tenth, the twenty-fifth, etc.  That would be so much fun.

Scrap booking is my favorite hobby,The sky is the limit on naming them.I first started out with Baby books for each of my daughter's and Grand daughter, starting with the begining of their roots,My oldest is 25 and I gave her the scrap book @ age 21,she loves it!,Everything from A to Z is in there. Now I'm currently working on my youngest daughter who is 10 and my Grand daughter who is 4.Of course I have some for outings, vacations, travels, holidays and etc; just for example. The sky is the limit for scrap booking.Precious Moments are to be treasured,Make sure you are using acid free paper and materials because they last a life time with out fading and yellowing.Happy scrap booking ladies.I'll definetly be around to let you know what's new and tell you about some other little things I found out about scrap booking that may intrest you.
