Worst job?

Posted 3 months ago I'm curious. What was the worst job you've ever had and why? Imagination. . .is the power that enables us to empathise with humans whose experiences we have never shared. (J.K. Rowling) |

| Posted 3 months ago I was a waitress for one day -- made the mistake of thinking I'd be great at since I love talking and interacting with people. I was so shocked at how rude customers could be; and then -- well -- I was terrible at too. |

| Posted 3 months ago One summer as a freshman in college, I worked in a food kiosk in the mall. I came home reeking of food. I could not believe how many customers would try to trick me out of money. I was responsible for the difference so I kept their money on the register until after I gave them change. Any disputes, I simply said, "This is what you gave me!" as I held up the bills. |

| Posted 3 months ago I worked for a Toy Inventor once as an Office Assistant. Sounds like a great job right? He was completely crazy. Anyhow, one day he had a huge meeting with his associates in from China. Very nice men. I made sure I made them feel comfortable, put some coffee on and sat them in the conference room. As I was bringing the carafe of coffee into the conference room, I tripped and a bit of the coffee came out of the top and spilled on the floor onto the beautiful white carpet. No big deal right? Well the Inventor started SCREAMING at me, saying - "how can you be so stupid" and "how can you let this happen". I set the carafe down, flipped him the bird and told him to stick it where the sun doesn't shine, grabbed my bag and left. It was the only job I ever quit. It's not who you are that holds you back. It's who you think you're not. - Unknown |

| Posted 3 months ago Right after college, I needed a job to save money to move to a bigger city for a "real job". So, My uncle got me on as an assistant in the Sales Office at a cemetery/mortuary group. First of all, WOW. The sales people - ehem, "grief counselors" - were taught how to sell funerals: if the widow was feeling guilty about anything you could sell her the biggest, best casket; if the widower was older you could pre-sell him a matching funeral for when he goes, too....etc. It was horrid how money grubbibg the whole thing was. I worked there 8 months and decided instead to take out a loan to move...rather pay back the money then have to go find my soul. I decided it is better to scream. Silence is the real crime against humanity. Nadezhda Mandelstam, Russian writer, Hope Against Hope |

| Posted 3 months ago Its a tie between Starbucks (and I thought I was grumpy before my coffee.....sheeesshhh!) and my last job that I had just quit from (I learned the personal mantra of an assistant 'I am nothing, I am no one, I have no brain, I am JUST an ASSISTANT') "The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough."-Randy Pausch |

| Posted 3 months ago In high school I was a summer camp counselor for 3 months. My campers were 3-5 year old girls and they were nightmares. Little, whiny nightmares. It was awful. Daniela

| Posted 3 months ago I spent five years as a summer camp counselor, and it was a gret experience for me except for the snapping turtle who swam around the dock. Red Cross swim instructors taught the kids the basic strokes. Each week we hosted a barbecue and talent show. The kids were from underpriveleged homes, and most of the campers enjoyed the experience. We feed the campers and taught them skills, and it was better for them to be outside with friends than stuck inside watching TV. At the end of the day, the little kids were tired, and the older ones were ready to share their day with their parents. The worst day was opening day when the head counselor, a PE teacher, opened the shutters and a few bats flew out of hiding. |

| Posted 3 months ago While in high school, I picked up trash at a local recreation center which was not in the job description. I asked for a transfer immediately. A week later, I got my transfer to another location where I did not pick up trash. |
