Is it just me....or are there other women here who still don't know what they want to be when they 'grow up'?  I'm 40 yrs. old and have many different types of passions.I love to write and travel. I love animals, love to draw and have been told I'm very good at it. I've felt a calling on my heart for a long time to work in other countries, yet part of me wants a clean proffessional career. I'm smart, out going, fun and love to be around other people.

I must confess that it is very confusing and at my age (which I LOVE) I don't have the rest of my life to figure it out.

Any tips from those of you who are where you want to be and loving it?

How did you KNOW that road was the right one to devote your life to?

I love change, and I seem to tire easily of the same thing. I 'm at a  point where I need to make a choice and stick with it, I just don't want to make the wrong one.

Sounds something like my situation.  I'm also 40 and just changed careers.  BA in Information Systems and worked in Consulting for 10 years, took a break and operated my own business-sold underclothes, furniture, costume jewelry, clothe or anything that I could make a good profit on.  Now A/A in Radiology in GA and trying to find a job.  I don't know either, love art too.

You are definatey not alone!  I was laid-off last year and at the age of 46 I had to try to figure out what I wanted to do when I grew up.  I needed to earn money, so going back to school wasn't really an option for me.  I got involved in Multilevel marketing because I love the product, (cards), I work my own hours from home, the income potential is great, I've met some great people and I've grown as a person.

The great thing about being 40+ is that you realize that life is too short to have a JOB.

Lord, I hope it is never too late.  32, and still lost.  I have some ideas if I had the money to try, but even then, who knows.  I might have it wrong.

I don't think it's ever to late to figure out what you want to do for the rest of your life.  Or maybe even for the rest of this year or even the next 10 years and then change again. Lives are spent in seasons and maybe this is one person's season to write and another's season to lead others in the corporate world. I believe that we all change and grow and as long as you are open to those seasons of growth you'll be doing exactly what you are supposed to be doing. Now for the money part... We all need it to live, so I believe that using all of your gifts to make a living makes the most sense.

And here I thought I was the only one who didnt know what I wanted to be when I grew up....lol.

I have spent the last 35 years trying to figure out what to do with my life. I also tire easily and grow bored of  the same ol same ol. I like change and actually thrive in it but lets get real....my resume looks horrible...lol I have never mastered anything but I have alot of experience in alot of areas. I guess my ideal career would be one that allows me to choose my jobs and will allow me to use my wide range of skills to help people. I also love to learn new things so it would also have to have the opportunity for me to either learn something new or to learn more about what skills I already have.

I have found that being a Virtual Assistant allows all of that and also give me the freedom to spend time with my family...which is the most important thing and for the first time in a long time my resume works for me not against me....lol

I'm 48 and in training for a new career, so I think we continue to have the opportunity to grow and develop.  I'm planning to go into teaching, and the faculty appreciate my experience that I'll bring to the classroom.

Do we really ever stop growing?  I hope not!  So who defines when "up" is?

I have a friend who is only 26 and recently started considering going back for her MSW- but she thought she was too old!  I am working on breaking that misconception with her!  I truly believe that it is never too late to alter your career, or any, path.  Personally, I'll stop "growing up" when I die- until then I plan to keep it new, fresh and evolving!

I have to agree, I am 34 and just now realizing what else I would rather be doing....I think having a baby made me see things I didn't before.  That's how we keep fresh and alive, is to be dynamic and always looking for a new challenge, passion, or just a new bliss.....

I'm 26 and still lost and will continue to be lost for a while. But I don't mind it...
