| Description: | Book for middle-age women, creative non-fiction supposed to be humorous |
"Utterly courageous, wickedly funny, and unexpectedly moving in its truth telling, I Feel Bad About My Neck is a book of wisdom, advice, and laugh-out-loud moments, a scrumptious, irresistible treat." This description is what prompted me to buy this book -- this quote on the dust jacket. I could barely get through the first chapter. This was a book that might be funny to some people, but I personally could not relate to it at all. I forced myself to finish it, but I hated it all the way through. I very rarely say this about any book, but this one disappointed me exponentially. IMHO Ms. Ephron should stick to screenwriting (When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail).
Update: I agree that the age group is very specific to understanding this at all, but because I am 47 I thought it would have me rolling! I really wanted to like this book but it just wasn't funny to me.
I have to disagree. I found it laugh out loud funny and read excerpts to friends who found it equally witty. Maybe it is because we are "women of a certain age." If you are under 45-50, you will probably not relate to her material as well.
