| Description: | "Softly he brushed my cheek, then held my face between his marble hands. 'Be very still,' he whispered, as if I wasn't already frozen. Slowly, never moving his eyes from mine, he leaned toward me. Then abruptly, but very gently, he rested his cold cheek against the hollow at the base of my throat." As Shakespeare knew, love burns high when thwarted by obstacles. In Twilight, an exquisite fantasy by Stephenie Meyer, readers discover a pair of lovers who are supremely star-crossed. Bella adores beautiful Edward, and he returns her love. But Edward is having a hard time controlling the blood lust she arouses in him, because--he's a vampire. At any moment, the intensity of their passion could drive him to kill her, and he agonizes over the danger. But, Bella would rather be dead than part from Edward, so she risks her life to stay near him, and the novel burns with the erotic tension of their dangerous and necessarily chaste relationship. |
I was strangly attracted to this book - it was good I must admit!
This book actually initially only caught my attention through its cover. After hearing mixed reviews about it, I decided to give it a try myself. I personally feel Bella gave in a little too quickly in wanting to be uh turned. But in all in all I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and others in this series.
I enjoyed this first book in the series: plain jane newcomer, trying to fit into a new community, meets mysterious "boy" with a big secret. Bella is a pretty typical character, and Edward is just more interesting--even if he is also the typical tormented hero with a secret and big ennui for his eternal existence. The Olympic Peninsula is also one of my most favorite places on earth: moody, atmospheric, so a perfect setting for a supernatural story.
I love these books. Stephenie Meyer is a great author. Reading all the Twilight books was amazing and the whole time I felt like I was IN the story. I felt so connected with Bella. Meyer knows how to capture one's mind.
A love story with a twist. An edge of your seat, tense, teenage vampire love story.
