| Description: | In April 1992 a young man from a well-to-do family hitchhiked to Alaska and walked alone into the wilderness north of Mt. McKinley. His name was Christopher Johnson McCandless. He had given $25,000 in savings to charity, abandoned his car and most of his possessions, burned all the cash in his wallet, and invented a new life for himself. Four months later, his decomposed body was found by a moose hunter.... |
I've seen the film and it's certainly interesting to think about the psychology that he goes through. I've heard the book was just as enthralling as the film
I just watched this film..amazing. I was so drawn to the camera angles and the story..watching what "Alexander Supertramp" was experiencing, wishing I had the courage to do the same. I plan on reading the book too just because I love to compare the book to the film.

Eddie Vedder's work on the soundtrack was incredible as well. Pearl Jam is one of my all time favorite bands and Vedder on his own is just as captivating.
The book paints a beautiful picture of the like of McCandless. The movie is great, but the book is fantastic.
I respect and admire this young man for being such an open-minded free spirit. He actually DOES what a lot of people just talk about their whole lives but never do. He also shows that everyone has something to teach and something to learn from every person they meet if they connect with the human being inside. Ironically it was when he was alone connecting with himself that the unthinkable cut his spiritual journey short. I will never forget this story--it touched me deeply and I daresay profoundly changed the way I look at people and things at times.
I wish I had a spirit like this man. I wish I would have read the book first, but I never even heard of it. Great movie and even better when based on a true story.
