| Description: | "The Happening" is a lightning-paced, heart-pounding paranoid thriller about a family on the run from an inexplicable and unstoppable event that threatens not only humankind, but the most basic human instinct of them all--survival. |
To be blunt - this was a dumb movie. I've been looking forward to it, as I loved "The Sixth Sense" and even more loved "The Village". This movie is just bad all the way around. I don't want to spoil anyone's movie experience, so I won't get into specifics here. It is just a combination of bad acting, a very thin plotline, bad pacing, and unintentional humor (people in our theatre were laughing out loud in areas of the movie that were obviously not intended to be funny). I was very disappointed.
Honestly, if I had been paying attention and seen who the movie was by, I never would have wasted my time or money. Good cast-bad characters and plot, what little there was of one.
it was typical of M. Night...saw at home...not impressed...but expected the same as what he usually puts out...so no disappointment...what makes him a filmmaker that make money -- simply is he is Different, and has created another genre...period...but as for good...not really, just different...
I thought it was a decent movie. I've heard it was stupid, and decided to take my chances. Glad I did, because not every movie is for every person. I liked it, thought it had a decent plot, and if you're open minded, it's not so dumb. I even got scared once or twice.
I enjoyed this movie! Then again, I enjoy everything that he films. I enjoyed the movie because it poses the viewer with a question. It did what it was supposed to, and that was to make the view say to themselves, "what if”. I loved it!
It was creepy but I really like M. Knight Shamalan movies. He hasn't made one I didn't like. It just makes you think.
