| Description: | This original film recounts a key chapter in U.S. history. It is the story of suffragettes fighting for the 19th amendment—women’s right to vote. Focusing on the two defiant women—Alice Paul, played by Hilary Swank, and Lucy Burns, played by Frances O’Connor. Battling public opinion and the most powerful men in the country, including President Woodrow Wilson, these courageous women broke from the mainstream women’s rights movement and created a more radical wing, daring to push the boundaries of political protest to secure women’s voting rights during the 1920’s. This is a great movie showcasing the true spirit of women trying to fight for the right to vote! Hilary Swank is outstanding in this movie! |
An awesome movie for men and women!
I saw this when it first cam out. Amazing job by the actresses. Imagine hanging all night by your wrists, struggling for air after having been beaten... for standing on the sidewalk, peaceably speaking your mind! That is just one of the atrocities committed against these women, who initiated our right to vote.
Although it can be difficult to watch, this one is a 'must-see' for any of us who need a little reminder of what not to take for granted!
GREAT!! Hilary Swank did a wonderful job and I really enjoyed the strength and the message of his movie.
