This original film recounts a key chapter in U.S. history. It is the story of suffragettes fighting for the 19th amendment—women’s right to vote. Focusing on the two defiant women—Alice Paul, played by Hilary Swank, and Lucy Burns, played by Frances O’Connor. Battling public opinion and the most powerful men in the country, including President Woodrow Wilson, these courageous women broke from the mainstream women’s rights movement and created a more radical wing, daring to push the boundaries of political protest to secure women’s voting rights during the 1920’s.
