Why aren't women furious about Sarah Palin?

"Like many people, I thought, "Damn, a hyperconservative, fuckable, Type A, antiabortion, Christian Stepford wife in a 'sexy librarian' costume -- as a vice president? That's a brilliant stroke of horrifyingly cynical pandering to the Christian right."

I have never submitted on anything before but felt an urgent desire to state something very important here. That we are judging another person without having walked in her shoes. I admire a woman who is ready to step out in what she believes in, no matter how silly her comments or how unprepared she may be. It is our failures that teach us as well as our successes- how many times did Col. Sanders recipe get rejected before he stuck it big? He learned from those failures but he never gave up.
I think back to the 1st time I had a baby, I was ignorant and alot of what I learned was trial and error, it did not take away my desire to be a mother or the fact that I did know alot about being a mother. I would rather have a person with conviction and heart and a true desire to lead, than a charasmatic liar , manipulator, and or what ever other kind of person could end up "leading" our country.... SHe is imperfect like the rest of us, but handles herself with grace and I for one am honored to have had her make it to the point she did. Just as Barak gave hope to millions of ethnic people everywhere, Sarah I believe gave hope to women everywhere.

I came across the comments to the Palin article before seeing the article itself. The reactions were so passionate I had to read the article. The article reminded me of talk radio. The host usually gets all "mightier than thou" and ridicules any opinion that differs from their own. When opportunity knocks you either answer the door or run and hide. Sarah Palin bravely answered the door. What an opportunity! I admire any person that willing puts themselves out to be under the type of scrutiny that the media and our people demand. I've been around for nearly half a century and have voted in more than a couple presidential elections. I can't remember (age possibly) ever having a Vice Presidential Candidate given as much air time. Usually they were a name that was pulled out after the fact. This election did many things that I'm proud of: it got people to CARE and VOTE and unify. It also reminded me of something I once heard in a classroom...... "The Majority is always WRONG.

The author of this piece definitely has an agenda. She is drooling with her vicious contempt. This article is a very effective means to expose the truth that the heart of those who are so willing to kill their young cannot tolerate those willing to stand for the rights of the innocent.

Posters,
Personal attacks toward other posters should NOT be part of your commentary. If you disagree with another poster, there is no need to label them as ignorant or use vulgarities. Civil discourse is fine, but do not make it personal.

I just figured that she would help McCain and the republicans to lose. That was why I wasn't angered at her weaknesses and lack of knowledge. She was anger inspiring, but she served her purpose.

Wow, so you're saying every woman who likes her is stupid? That's not only ARROGANT, but A VERY OFFENSIVE PERSONAL ATTACK as well on many of the women on this site who do like her. Those like me who differ in our opinions from yours do not call you stupid for your choice of candidate. Perhaps you could use a little more etiquette here without being offensive. Points of view can be made without personal attacks. SHAME ON YOU!

Yes she was an easy target. Anyone who is politically INcorrect is always an easy target in today's society. Frankly I wasn't bothered as much with HER inexperience as VICE PRESIDENT as I was and still am of Obama's INEXPERIENCE as PRESIDENT according to even the people in his own party (who work directly with him unlike any of us commenting on this article) who could not get the nomination and did a backflip in that regard putting party before country. Thank you for caring about our country's politics.

This is a very well written article, with a lot of turn-of-phrases well done to scorch an unfortunate candidate. Yes, Sarah Palin was a very easy target. She was definitely not ready for the position that she was thrust into, and from Canada I am bewildered as to why she was chosen. I am very left-wing and, would I have a say in an American election, I would never vote Republican. I think that Obama is a remarkable candidate and well-worth his win. However, McCain did earn my respect and, had he chosen someone more seasoned and ready for the role he put Sarah in, he would have made a decent candidate for office (assuming he was running on his own agenda and not overly controlled). Sarah Palin was an easy target; she was a pretty average woman with an average intelligence, average looks and an average amount of experience. I certainly do not think she is stupid; in fact, she is probably well suited to her current position. But, I would hope that the position of VP would command something more than average; and the process of running for office only highlighted how under-equipped this poor girl was. I think the article is overly demeaning of Sarah - she is an intelligent woman who just was not ready for what she was given. I consider myself to be a very intelligent, ambitious woman, and I can't imagine doing much better. It would take another 20 years of ambition and focus for me to be able to be properly informed for the situations that Sarah was placed into. I don't agree with her ideals, but I just don't see how she could have done better without comprimising everything she stood for. The fault of how things went lies with McCain - he took a gamble, and it failed. Let's move on, enjoy the excitement of what Obama has to offer and see how things go over the next four years. I would have voted Obama, because he unified so many people; however, I would not rule out Sarah 8 or 12 years down the road. She now knows she has her work cut out for her, and she has a little bit of studying to do. I agree that women should be angry that she was put forward as good enough for the position (there were several other, excellent candidates), but you don't get anywhere great without taking risks, and Sarah Palin was McCain's great risk. It just didn't pan out this time.

I haven't read ur article as yet but the topic of Sarah Palin intrigues and interests me to a great deal. I feel that the entire nation is wasting its time and energy behind a woman who is definitely attractive and interesting and always seems to have a great deal to say about inconsequential issues while she seems to be completely clueless about the actual problems that many of us face today. One should watch her answers to the issues of bailout backout and the proposal to bailout the auto industry and you will be bound to draw a conclusion that this lady is definitely a beauty with no brains. Unfortunately just because she is a woman doesn't mean that the female population has to support her - we must make sure that the woman should have some substance and understanding of the economics of the country before she can have such high expectations and dreams. It seems so funny that people are comparing her to someone of the stature of Hilary Clinton!!!!!

Wow, what an angry, depressed and paranoid individual you are. Your classless article just goes futher to prove how morally bankrupt our country is becoming. Sarah Palin, whether you agree with her politics or not, is a human being. She is deserving of a little dignity, and not a filthy description by an obviously uneducated young woman. You should be ashamed of yourself. And I'll bet you consider yourself "diverse and liberal"; the new definition for pirating decency that used to be second nature to most American people.

I am a liberal Democrat and I couldn't even finish the article because it was so disgusting. I think the general election was fair but voters were so uniformed. My Party is responsible for so much hypocrisy, lies, disenfranchisement, caucus fraud, arrogance, elistism, and a pre-selected nominiee. Obama went straight to #2 in campaign contributions from Fannie and Freddie in less than 4 years. It took Kerry 19 years to come in third. Of course Dodd came in 1st. How disgusting that my Democrats would not pass the bill McCain cosponsered in 2005 to regulate Frannie and Freddie. The Democrats chose their pockets and self interest over helping the American people who were too stupid to figure out that the Democrats were a main reason for us needing a bailout. I respect Bill Clinton for owning up the part he felt his adminstration played. He is truly concerned about Americas problems unlike the new breed we now have.
As far a Gov. Sarah Palin if Democrats still want to believe that she was picked to get Hillary voters then they haven't paid attention. She was there to solidify the Republican base and bring her reform experience to the ticket. I thought that was a perfect match to McCain. I didn't agree with her on many things but unlike Obama she trufully told you where she stood on issues and she has tremendous more experience than our President Elect.
Sarah Palin deserved the same respect any other woman or man gets. Some of my most liberal, so called feminists friends brought themselves down to the lower degrading level there was. If you can't demand respect for all women whether you agree with them or not then not only do you not represent feminism you represent hypocrisy. No matter what anyone labels themselves I would hope that people try standing by the label "being human" and "someone with dignity and respect" and then google what that means. It used to mean something maybe it can again.
