THE LIGHT FROM WITHIN
August 27, 2008
Women had done an excellent job raising great numbers of children in the past and being backbones of their families. Every man in history will tell you how these women prepared them for the future. Mandela in one of his speeches mentioned that 'my first pair of trousers were my fathers shots that my mother sown for me to wear at school.' Joe Biden told us last night how his mother nurtured this grounded hard working man by telling him everyday that "he is smart, and handsome." In addition to that she told him that he can accomplish anything he wants to achieve. What can we call this loving nurturing way the woman has. I think it is light from within and when it starts to brighten up with in the light is reflected to the children.
Today we are all honored to see today's women making more input on their children's lives. However, are we telling them everyday how smart they are, and how beautiful and handsome they are. If not why not? Are we too busy with our jobs and studies that we keep the important nurturing light covered with dark cloth within us. Joe Biden stated "I am a success because you can measure success through how your children has become" Therefore his mother is a success, Obama's mother is a success, Michael Phelphs' mother is a success. The number is growing. What about the smart pretty girls? Hillary Clinton and Michel Obama. They carry double success by being "proud mothers and role models that we look up to" I know there is a long list of women that are success stories.
Ladies we have the light within us and only us. Let us do our duty to the children of today so that we will also become success.
The precious light from within.

The idea of being a light to our children is beautiful. The emphasis on success, however, seems to depend too heavily on a worldly view of success (a public level of achievement and fame), rather than success in marriage, in a job that does not involve fame, in relationships, in caring for the environment, etc. It also places our value on our relationship to someone who has achieved worldly fame, rather than on our own abilities, characteristics, etc.
