The age old question of why do people always want to eat after a funeral is answered here and taken to new sociological levels!

I just re-read this article and find it even more fascinating than I did the first time. Right after the events of September 11, my husband and I went shopping for a friend's BD present and spent more lavishly than we ever have (or will) again. Our thinking was, "What the heck? It can all end tomorrow! Why not buy Brinke those amethyst earrings! We love her. She'll be thrilled!"
Looking at this phenomena in terms of television advertising. Maybe this is the underlying reason why there is so much violence on TV? The goriest stories placed first in news shows, medical shows where people die from unusual diseases, murder mysteries, and all the incarnation of Law and Order that you can think of....it puts us in the mood to buy stuff!
