Welcome to the New WomenCo.!

Welcome to the New WomenCo.!

Our new logo and slogan.

Daniela | WomenCo.

May 01, 2008

Well, here it is: The brand-new WomenCo.! We’ve been hinting at it for a while and finally, we’ve rolled it out.

Our team worked hard on the re-launch of the website and we hope you’ll be as happy with the results as we are. We wanted the site to reflect the audience we’re targeting: smart, career-driven women with a plethora of interests and needs.

Our new look, logo & slogan

Our new tagline – “Networking for the career-minded woman” – reflects exactly the kind of member we’ve attracted and want to continue to attract. It also supplants the old tagline – “Having it all” – which suggested that women can’t normally have it all. We know better!

The new slogan comes accompanied by an all-new logo. The pink flower-like symbol is also a female gender sign, and we think it’s as aesthetically appealing and unique as it is empowering. Kind of like you.

Finally, you’ll see we’ve switched from a black-and-pink design to a cleaner, easier-to-read white skin that’s highlighted by the blue and pink we’ve used in our new logo. We know some of you liked the black-and-pink but this less cluttered design will allow us to implement some new features down the line that we would not have been able to dream up otherwise.

New content & discussion forums

One of the biggest changes we’ve started to institute and will continue evolving is a clear and authentic “voice” for WomenCo. As a result, we’ve signed on a number of new columnists who will be writing on everything from balancing family and work to finding that first new job. You can read their bios here.

(If you’re interested in adding your own voice to WomenCo.’s chorus, please read this to get you started. We’re always looking for great writers.)

In addition to personal essays, stories, and advice penned by our columnists, we’ll continue to provide you with top-notch career advancement content and the latest news of interest to women in the workplace.

We have also divided our content into the major groups that use WomenCo. We now have a place for First Job Seekers, Career Changers, Working Moms, Self-Employed Women, Going Back to School, and Going Back to Work. Join the respective groups, check out the articles, make friends, and soon these communities will reflect who you are!

Further, our discussion forums have been redesigned so that you can better format your writing, quote others, add smiley faces, and other fun things. Go chat, debate, and talk with other WomenCo. members in the new forums today!

What’s not changing

But don’t worry. Not everything is changing!

Our members write to us and tell us how “cozy” WomenCo. is compared to other social networking sites out there, and we reply: We like it, too.

WomenCo. will continue to be a community where members can closely interact with each other and help one another advance in their careers and life. That’s a promise.

I’m new to the WomenCo. team, but am excited about making this the most vibrant online community for women professionals. As a career-driven woman myself, I want this site to reflect what successful and aspirational women I know are like. This is going to be a fun ride.

Feedback

I look forward to hearing what you have to say about all this. You can always add me to your WomenCo. network and send me a personal message that way. Or you can also e-mail me.

Hi, being new to the site, I would like to first thank you for the invitation. I have been searching for some friendly advise and a woman's support group for years. I am still learning the navigation, a few errors but, I am sure with this much support who can go wrong. oops! did not mean to strike thumbs down- "an awsome thumbs up so far" :) LOL

The new look is terrific! So much easier on the eyes and navigation is also better. Content and the quality of the community are also very important, and I think you're delivering on both. Kudos!

As a graphic designer and user and woman, I found the old WomenCo.'s black and pink color scheme was visually repelling and subliminally offensive, which created a barrier between the user and the great content that's on here. And I definitely appreciate WomenCo.'s careful efforts to make vast improvements and increasing functionality of the site, and I'm sure it was a hard decision to make. Hopefully us current users can accept these changes and welcome the great new potential for a greater networking experience. I know I really like it! =)

I love it! I actually hadn’t been back since I joined because the black was so overwhelming... I am excited to see the changes - I am a firm believer that change happens and we should embrace it! Momof2 - it will change again, maybe if you stick around you will like the new design sometime in the future? :)

I think it looks great! A lot more readable and easy on the eye.

Momof2: if you're going to leave a site merely because it looks different, then maybe you weren't here for the right reasons... I'm here for the community and the articles and columns, not the background of the site. I haven't been here very long but I've met some impressive ladies and can't wait to do more networking. :)

Further, it seems that the black and pink that you loved so much wasn't going to allow WomenCo. to give us more site features due to design problems (I know about black backgrounds because my business's old site had to be totally redesigned due to poor legibility and other tech reasons I don't really comprehend).

Finally, I still see a whole lotta pink and black :)
