About Me:
I came from poor beginnings....a place called Tin Can Holler in Athens, TN. My father murdered my mother when I was 7 years old and my siblings and I were separated and abused in the state's foster care program. I spent over 12 years in horrible foster homes. I was determined to prove that no matter where I came from I could be whatever I chose. I entered into the corporate world and also became a successful Realtor while raising my 3 children alone. When my youngest child turned 21 I resigned from my job, sold my home in Florida and returned to Tin Can Holler to find out the truth about my mother's murder. What I discovered shocked the residents of 3 counties in SE Tennessee and devestated me. I have written a book titled "Tragedy in Tin Can Holler" so the world will know how horrible domestic violence is and that it's a learned behavior. Today I am an advocate speaker against domestic violence and child abuse and a spokesperson for CASA and the Holston United Methodist Home for Children. I want to help others and be a voice for the children. If you are interested in my story and would like to know more about me and what I do, please visit www.tragedyintincanholler.com and www.mypace.com/rozettamowery "THE WORLD BEGINS TO END THE DAY WE BECOME SILENT ABOUT THE THINGS THAT MATTER". Don't be silent about the things that matter in your life and speak for those who don't have a voice....especially the young and the old who are being abused in our society today. Please make a difference...that's what I am trying to do with my life.

    Thank you Sherrie,

I read her story and almost cried. I sent her a message and a friend request too. She is doing a good thing by sharing her story.....it's therapy and it's healing her pain. Everyone makes mistakes and she's overcome more than most people could...she discovered that she does have strenght and she does have a voice. I have no doubt that she will someday get her twins back with her.

    Rozetta,
I'm glad you found the group and joined. I hope you speak up when you feel it's right and join the conversation. Not everyone will see this page. When you get more involved, they are more likely to see your words here. Sherrie

    Rozetta,
I looked at your website early this morning, and I do mean early!! I am really intrigued to know more about your story. In the mean time, let me direct you to the group "Hard Road Traveled". Start by reading "Revelations". I think you will relate. Let me know what you think. Welcome to WomenCo. and for accepting my invitation. There is also another woman's story that I think you will want to read. Her name is Kathern, and I believe her story is also in Hard Road Traveled. If not, let me know, and I'll find it for you. Sherrie :D

As an advocate speaker against domestic violence I want to warn others about the dangers of domestic violence and the horrible aftermath of what happens to the family unity and the children. I am also a spokesperson for CASA because the children in foster care are not being protected and need a voice. By sharing my own family story, "Tragedy in Tin Can Holler" I want to help others and encourage them to get away from their abuser before a tragedy occurs. My mother was murdered when I was 7 years old and my siblings and I were separated and abused in the state's foster care system. My favorite quote is by Martin Luther King; "THE WORLD BEGINS TO END THE DAY WE BECOME SILENT ABOUT THE THINGS THAT MATTER". Please don't be silent about things that matter in your personal life, community and your country.
